Don't know if you've seen this before but it's worth repeating. This woman was at the Luby cafeteria in Texas when a gunman started his rampage. Listen to her words carefully, she didn't mince them. She is so right on you can feel the Senators getting uncomfortable.

never seen it, thanks for sharing... i remember that and because of situations like that I carry always!
Yeah that is Suzanna Gratia Hupp and the video is indeed powerful. No one can challenge the sad reality of what she went through, and the power with which she delivers her testimony.
By the way for a longer version of the story you might want to check out her book that she wrote on the subject and the aftermath: http://www.amazon.com/Lubys-Legislature-Womans-Against-Control/dp/096567844X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1302228959&sr=8-2

we in the concealed carry community owe Dr. Hupp a great deal of gratitude. She, with several others, worked extremely hard pressuring the state house here in Texas to pass concealed carry legislation (which did pass in 1995 and has continued to advance since), and has continued to work for 2A rights across the nation. She is one fine leader.

You are correct, sir, but as a Texan, and having a CHL since 1996, it still galls me that despite her aggressive campaigning and common sense delivery, it still took 4 years, Ann Richards to be out of office as governor, and George Bush Jr. to be governor to allow CHL to become a reality.
Just her impassioned pleas alone fell on the dear ears of Ann Richards, who made the public statement that a CHL program would result in "people shooting themselves", and vetoed even a referendum on CHL. She threatened to veto any CHL related topics that crossed her desk. And that, the actions of one person, was enough to stifle the will of the people.

wow that was great, she was great. I have no doubt if she lowerred her skirts, there would be a big pair hanging there to. Those guys had no defense for her statements, but a su know they don't care either. I wanna marry her!!!!

I figured that was who that was going to be just looking at the headline. What a woman. As for Ann Richards, well that name still leaves a bad taste in many peoples mouths around here. Robin Hood comes to mind, and is an abject FAILURE (google it if you want to see how obummer's schemes will play out). Dr. Hupp, she is something, and if I lived in her district, I'd vote for her all day long.

I don't mind saying on a public forum that in the highly unlikely event I ever come within spitting distance (pun intended) of Ann Richard's grave, there is a high probability that there will be some of my DNA on it before I leave.

Is she dead yet? If she is, I have a better idea. Some time ago, I suggested that a run (biker talk for mass riders, riding for a purpose) to p!ss on some appropriate graves. That is definitely one of them that needs some yellow water. Nathan Gale, Hitler Clinton, you get the idea.

She passed in 2006.
She is buried at Texas State Cemetary in Austin. I'm not familiar with it, and might never be there. If you ever are please tell her "hi" for me as you see fit.:)

Aww she's dead. Maybe just maybe I'll make a road trip, (I have people that way, and the wife hasn't seen it), and I may need to drop a deuce, I have ideas now. That's a misdemeanor right? Dropping a deuce on a grave or watering the flowers, worst they could do would be urinating in public right?

Sweet. I doubt any trooper or LEO would do much if I got caught by them, some might even join me. The public on the other hand, might make a bit of stink, at least until they found out who was under that plot. I still have no idea how or why she got elected, and stayed that way.

And I co-apologize. Some things just never leave my mind. I remember reading the details of the Killeen Luby's massacre when it was fresh news, and it was a horrifying story.
How she lost both parents in one incident had to have been crushing. Her dad tried to stop the shooter instead of cowering, and her mother wouldn't leave her father's side after he had been shot, and suffered the same fate.
CHL could have saved the day, or at least made it less severe. I like to think it could have been stopped with the only injuries being anyone injured by the truck coming through the wall. Except for Hennard, of course.
Ann Richards represented all .........................Oh well, I'm really done.

I remember that day as well, I was a little feller then, but later I researched it, what a terrible thing to live with. Knowing that you had the means to fight back and likely stop such a tragedy, and not being legal to do so. It is interesting that now she says she would live with a felony and the loss of her license if she had to do it again.

A.R. won because the jerk running against her thought he had it in the bag, being male. Then he made some real dumb "chauvinist" remarks and changed a lot of people's minds.
I voted for GW the next two elections in Texas and the two presidential elections in Florida... where I voted for Jeb, too. I think Jeb would be great as a president. He was great for Florida, but another Bush?? I don't think a lot of people could get by the disappointments of the last two Bushes... "read my lips" and then GW letting us down economically. We could have done a lot worse for a wartime leader... he kicked ass. Gore woulda complained and whined and tossed a few Tomahawks like Clinton did. He was a REMF on weed, but he did go to Vietnam... daddy being a senator and all.
People act like Bush was a draft dodger. He flew jets in the "Guard"... the same one that got sent to fight in the last two Gulf Wars. Flying military aircraft is a very dangerous occupation... even in PEACEtime!
I was stationed at Dyess AFB from 74 to 83 and helped make Abilene go "wet" after a couple of votes... lots of military voters helped with that.:D
I spent a lot of time... around 18 years total in Texas and not all of it was in the military, though the last 5 years were in San Antonio while my wife was stationed there.

You have excellent recall. Clayton Williams and his "If rape is inevitable, you might as well lay back and enjoy it" statement. That sure did him in. He found out shortly that approximately half of Texas voters are women.:)

That's what it was. Then why did she get re-elected?
