Back to the range today with some SD ammo as well...First put another 100 rounds of FMJ's thru it for good measure...This is one smooth shooting gun...I'm surprised at how controllable it is for such a small handgun in 9mm...Then I broke out some Speer GD's,some Federal hydra shock and some critical defense...It ate everything I put in it...The Critical defense is a very smooth shooting round w/ not much kick at all...The hydra shocks and Speer GD's fired with a bit more of authority to them but again, the small amount of recoil on a gun this size is surprising to me...I personally prefer the Speer Gold Dots for carry myself...This gun is very comfortable to shoot, and is running really smooth at this point...Again ,all in all I ran thru another 200 plus rounds today without a hiccup...If these are every day occurrences with Kahr firearms,I should have known about this a long time ago...

Great news Joe!... I know what you mean as I also was shocked at how much I liked these Kahr's when I bought my first one, a CW9 last fall...

I gotta get some factory HP's for my next trip with the CM9 as well. I am thinking Gold dots or more Ranger T's... I do have some real wicked 127gr +P+ Rangers, but have not used them in my Kahr's...The G26 is full of them though!

Thanks joe d, we've been wondering how theses were gonna perform. Glad to hear you had a good experience.

alot of add hype in+P+ ammo. I always felt if you need that much more power, buy a 40 cal.. Most all 40 cal guns are the same size as their 9mm half brother by the same gun maker. I. E. MK9 and MK40, PM9 and PM40.

one will find alot of +P 9mm ammo, that seems + u won't find much. I don't think corbon who makes hot ammo makes anything in +P+. It doesn't sell, most gun makers say NO to it, those that do say no, not to keep it on that steady diet of +P+. If it was a popular round, we would see tons of it and the gun makers would have made the guns capable of shooting them. I personally feel that any of the good guns can shoot the +P+ stuff with ease. No one is going to give it a stready diet of them. Those rounds are expensive to shoot into paper, so if you gotta do it, go ahead. Your Kahr IMO can handle them with ease, but if something happens and you are foolish enought to tell kahr you shot +P+ ammo, then expect zero service from them. I really think for what little velocity is gained over the +P rounds, that it is all add hype and that sucks many into their liar. And a +P+ still doesnt add up to a 40 cal round, which I am ot sdure any more if any of the major ammo makers even make 40+P ammo. let alone Ihave never seen 40 cal +P+.

I can't imagine shooting a 40+P+ p out of a 18 ounce kahr and saying wow, this is really nice!!

While I was simply happy to hear Joe D. had no failures with any of the HP ammo he tried in his new gun, the same type that I also just purchased. I was just thinking out loud as to the types I have and intend to get to try in my CM9. And I did not write anything in the way of a question? or ask for an opinion about +P+ ammo... But of coarse everyone is entitled to their own....
I will just say that, that particular +P+ ammo (That I DO NOT USE in my Kahrs) is recommended as one of the best 9mm loads to carry for protection by Massad Ayoob, another "very experienced guy" I also have looked a lot of ballistic testing myself and feel comfortable with my choices...YMMV.

+P ammo for 9mm was developed back in the day in an effort to deliver better terminal ballistics. +p+ same thing and both ultimately ended up in the .40 SW.

There are newer bullet designs/technology that allow for better energy delivery, expansion, temporary wound cavities and thus better terminal performance in the 9mm round. I believe the Hornady Critical Defense is a superior round in this category and is specifically designed for carry weapons (typically shorter barrels - expansion w/reduced velocities)
I saw another manufacturer is also going to the polymer tip to aid in penetration and expansion. The sincerest form of flattery.

no offnese taken beardog. we all have our opinions. I am not an expereience ammo tester like Massad, and I take his comments as HIS COMMENTS . I would call them opinions also. I base my opinions on the vast majority of 9mm that is +P and the so little selection of +P+. The bullets as u know today are so far more advanced than even 5years ago, and IMO the bullet is the most important thing comng out of the barrel and the technology behind thos bullets today actually don't require as hot a round as they used to ,,, to get expansion, , penetration etc.

Nothing wrong with thinking out loud, so take no offense to my comments/opinions., for they are only mine and it can be interpeted by many in different ways.. Don't put me in the same class as Massad, I think it would piss him off and certainly make my chest puff outward alot.. Both not good things!!

Gold Dots are pretty nice, Speer hit a homerun with that one.
