Do you buy ammo from the INTERNET. I made my first purchase over the net American Eagle .115 gr FMJ, including shipping and tax $11.27 fer box of 50 - 1000 rounds total to my door step . Brands I should avoid? Internet stores I should avoid? Before tax and shipping $189.00 to $199.00 per 1000 so far is about the best price for average name ammo. Found cheaper Alum cases , reloads and such, but I tend to stick with mid level brand names. Are you finding better deals? I know I should reload but don't have the equipment to do so. I can get better deals per bx driving to gun stores within 60 miles - with a 10 bx limit ,gas and tax I'm doing better online. I'm in a tight knit neighborhood where neighbors could see someone attempting to hijack my delivered goods so no problems in that area so far. Whats your thoughts on the subject?

I buy wal mart wwb 100 pak 115 fmj for $23 all day long, Good american made ammo, gonna be har dto beat tha tprice on the internet after shipping etc. Just my 2 cents. I have vbought defensestuff from corbon direct and Nathezz sports.

stay away from reloads unless they are ur reloads.. Aluminum cases willl work in kahrs OK. I would avoil steel cases, although kahrs seem to eat them also. Just kinda hard to beat brass... I never buy at Ganderr Mtj, unless I need a free rectal exam...

Here's an ammo search engine I have used for almost any caliber made.

Enter your zip code in the top box and then click on the "CPR" which will give the total cost per round (cost plus shipping).

If you click on the left side you can see if the ammo is brass, zinc, .... new or reloaded.

Set for 9mm to start.

Enjoy!

I like the Sportsman's Guide, never had had any problems with them and they are quick. I shoot aluminum cases and occasionally steel cases and haven't had problems with either.

Yes it's per 100. I'm sitting on about 10,000 of those at the moment. After buying online and then just going to WM for the WWB the cost ends up being the same. Just depends on how much you want to buy. Don't buy less than a thousand FMJ on the net otherwise just run by walmart.

Most of the time I stop by Wal-Mart for a box or two of range ammo, but for SD or bulk orders I go to these sites.

I've bought from cheaperthandirt.com and midwayusa.com, only for SD ammo. Walmart usually has all the FMJ I need. Both shipments arrived very quickly and in good condition.

No, they also sell ammo to civilians in their stores. I've ordered 100's of rounds from their web site without any problems.

Jlottmc who is also a member here usually buys his from Sportsman Guide or Cheaper Than Dirt IF he buys on the internet. Usually if it's Cheaper Than Dirt, he'll just drive to the store since we're in DFW. When we lived in Arlington, he would drive to the Original Store in Ft. Worth. They have a store closer now in McKinney so we go there.

I've used Lucky Gunner, Cheaper than Dirt and Midway, and would go back to all three except for the much lower cost at Cheaper than Dirt. I've bought a lot of stuff through CtD, and the price even with shipping and tax comes out as good as Wal-Mart if not better, and certainly better than the range or the LGS. I just punch in my numbers and the stuff shows up at my door, I have no problems with buying ammo like that at all.

I copied this off GT Distributors' site. I knew I had seen something about them selling to LEO and military. I bought my GD's and GD Short Barrel ammo here. I'm retired military and stated so, branch, rank and retired.
Some of the other police suppliers like Kiesler do this as well, and other companies give discounts, as does Crossbreed Holsters. Always check the F.A.Q.s and policies for discounts, etc.
I routinely look for deals online... sales, reduced shipping, and buy from several hundred to a half case of 500 or larger at times, but usually 500 rounds.
Cabela's has sales and coupons reduced shipping, etc., which can beat Walmart... and no tax, unless they have a presence in your state.
I sign up and get notices from all of the online merchants, which can really help find deals, especially Cabela's.

Speer® LE Gold Dot® Short Barrel Duty Ammunition BOX

Speer® LE Gold Dot® Short Barrel Duty Ammunition BOX
Box = 20rds
Packing a short barrel once meant less velocity and less reliable expansion. Speer has created an entire category of specialized ammunition designed specifically for back-up guns. Gold Dot Short Barrel was introduced in 2004 and designed from the ground up to work in 2-inch barrels. We redesigned select Gold Dot bullets to make the cavity larger for reliable expansion at the reduced velocities common to short barrel handguns. You also get less "kick" to keep you on target when wielding sharp snapping .357 and .44 Magnum revolvers. And if a semi-auto is your gun of choice, our offerings are ideal for expansion in barrels as short as three inches. Available in 9mm +P, 38 Special +P, 357 Magnum, 40 S&W, 44 Magnum and 45.

I did see the new Gold Dot Short Barrel .22 Magnum ammo at the gun show. Someone had it for $19 a box of 50. I'm sure that was pretty high. It's made to shoot from a 2" barrel and do its job.

I order from the Sportsman's Guide all the time. I love them! Great ammo selection and great prices.

Spend the $29.95 for the member's club. It pays for itself in no time. Also, they always send me coupons for $10 off purchases of $99 or more. That pays for most of the shipping. I also order a lot of my clothes and shoes from them.

I've never had a problem with SG. Love 'em! :D

I did that for a few years until June when my membership ran out. I haven't seen the great deals since ammo became more plentiful. I've use Cabela's when they have sales, coupons and reduced shipping or free over a certain amount... usually about half a case of ammo that's on sale... really best deal when everything is just right... the planets and the sun align.... I can beat Walmart prices before they increased them AND no tax!

Speaking of DEALS... I just bought some more factory .45 ACP ammo... ON SALE at Cabela's for $14.88 a box... with reloadable brass cases!

I just got a $20 off $150 or more coupon from them in the mail yesterday! I'm looking at the FREE SHIPPING offer for over $150 today... and I see that by using the $20 coupon, instead, I get get more than the $16.95 free shipping off my $148.80 for 10 boxes of the MFS .45 ACP FMJ AND a box of Speer .380 Gold Dots at $19.95 to test... and get the order over $150... $148.80 + $19.95 + $16.95 shipping - $20 coupon = $165.70 total... delivered to my front door without Tax... NEW ammo!!
I had just bought a box of the MFS .45 at $15.88 to test, but hadn't done so, yet. BUT, for under $15 a box, I'll certainly take the DEAL!

We have a big show 5 times a year and I usually purchase there. However, if I don't find what I need at a good price or if I need to restock between shows I will place an order online. Check out http://ammoseek.com/ for a good ammunition search engine.

I always order bulk ammo online. I usually never order it from Cabela's though (due to price). But I just ordered two cases of S&B 9mm for $190/each shipped from them. That's about the best price I've seen it. It is the police version which is a little bit hotter from what I read online, but should be fine.

I bought that S&B 124-gr FMJ at under $10 a box last year from them... shoots great... I only use 124-gr for everything, except the good buys I USED to get at Wally World... $9.47 a box of 50 + tax, but local.

Like I keep saying... keep looking for deals and jump[ when they meet your needs. This is my third half-case or better on sale with free shipping or $20 off the order at Cabela's. I just can't resist the deals!

Guys keep asking what ammo and where to buy. You just have to use that super search machine you just used to ask someone else those questions. GOOGLE!

And, when you find things you like, sign up and give them your email address... they'll send you "fliers" or notices about sales and deals, as Cabela's does.

You have to KNOW what a DEAL IS, TOO! Become familiar with pricing on the 'Net. Also, you have to buy enough to qualify for the deals... if you're looking for a box or two, you're going to pay more and lose out on the really low prices.

Cost being the same? Your paying $23.00 plus tax per 100 and you're driving to this store to make the purchase. I'm paying $22.54 per 100 including shipping walking to the mail box. And you've bought 10,000 rds this way. Figure the tax on 10,000 rds @ $23.00 per 100, your spending $ on gas as well. Think about it! Cost is not the same.

IF you can find the ammo you want on sale or a decent price, Cabela's has deals on shipping all of the time. Now they're only charging $5 for shipping over $99.

I buy lots of ammo from them when there's free shipping or they have the $20 coupon for purchases over $150. Half cases usually run $16.95 for shipping and there's no tax. I get the best prices, the best deal, and no tax. This does NOT work if you're buying just a box or two at a time.

The places that have the deals and best prices, you should get on their mailing list and get regular notices about their specials and discounts.

That might be best. I have UPS or FedEx leave stuff at my door, but it's about 150' from the street... a house, not an apartment. I find ammo sitting at the door even when I'm home sometimes... which is most of the time. I'm on record with them for doing so, though.

They ship UPS, who will leave it at the door. It's not a problem for me. I was, however, a bit put off by their shipping charges. It almost negates the savings, but if the ammo's good, I can live with it.
