Today I received a check from Bawanna for $600. I have a PM9 on the way directly from Kahr or it soon will be.
When Bawanna first told me about this plan I was overwhelmed - I really couldn't believe it. I had never heard of anything like this before. I understand that the idea was conceived by a newer unnamed member, and he lateraled to Bawanna to run [or roll] with it. Bawanna seemed to be concerned that I might be offended, but how can the goodwill of dozens or hundreds of people offend anyone. I, of course, accepted, and the results speak for themselves.
When I pick up the PM9 at my FFL gun store in the in the near future, I will not consider it truly mine. This will be a very special pistol, owned by you people at KahrTalk, and I have only been appointed the custodian. I promise each and every one of you that it will be cherished accordingly. Oh, I won't enshrine it in a case. I will shoot it and carry it, but every time I pull the trigger or drop in in my pocket, I will be reminded of you. Thank You!!!
Now for the accounting. The original idea was to replace the CW9 and PM45 that were stolen. That was even the title of the thread, which BTW, I have not followed. It felt too much like eavesdropping. That task has been handled, and I will soon have a shiny new Kahr. Bawanna said the any monies over and above could be used for a safe or a security system or what ever I wanted. Well, I already have a new safe and a security system, so here is what I want. For forty years I have supported the US Naval Academy Foundation and for three the Wounded Warriors Project. I am going to divide the $600 and send $300 to each organization in the name of the KahrTalk forum. I sincerely hope that this will not disappoint or anger any of you fine people, I really do. If so, let me know privately, and I will make it up to you.
In closing, I'm at a loss to let you know how I feel about your generosity. Thank you seems inadequate, but it's all I have. A special thanks to Bawanna, who assumed the mechanics of the plan and to JohnH who allowed it to go forward.
Thank you very much and I wish you all "Fair winds and following seas".
