View Full Version : An open letter to the good people of KahrTalk

Today I received a check from Bawanna for $600. I have a PM9 on the way directly from Kahr or it soon will be.

When Bawanna first told me about this plan I was overwhelmed - I really couldn't believe it. I had never heard of anything like this before. I understand that the idea was conceived by a newer unnamed member, and he lateraled to Bawanna to run [or roll] with it. Bawanna seemed to be concerned that I might be offended, but how can the goodwill of dozens or hundreds of people offend anyone. I, of course, accepted, and the results speak for themselves.

When I pick up the PM9 at my FFL gun store in the in the near future, I will not consider it truly mine. This will be a very special pistol, owned by you people at KahrTalk, and I have only been appointed the custodian. I promise each and every one of you that it will be cherished accordingly. Oh, I won't enshrine it in a case. I will shoot it and carry it, but every time I pull the trigger or drop in in my pocket, I will be reminded of you. Thank You!!!

Now for the accounting. The original idea was to replace the CW9 and PM45 that were stolen. That was even the title of the thread, which BTW, I have not followed. It felt too much like eavesdropping. That task has been handled, and I will soon have a shiny new Kahr. Bawanna said the any monies over and above could be used for a safe or a security system or what ever I wanted. Well, I already have a new safe and a security system, so here is what I want. For forty years I have supported the US Naval Academy Foundation and for three the Wounded Warriors Project. I am going to divide the $600 and send $300 to each organization in the name of the KahrTalk forum. I sincerely hope that this will not disappoint or anger any of you fine people, I really do. If so, let me know privately, and I will make it up to you.

In closing, I'm at a loss to let you know how I feel about your generosity. Thank you seems inadequate, but it's all I have. A special thanks to Bawanna, who assumed the mechanics of the plan and to JohnH who allowed it to go forward.

Thank you very much and I wish you all "Fair winds and following seas".

O'Dell, I think I speak for all of us here when I say, no apologies are needed, and no offense is taken. Those are both worthy places, and I cannot think of a better use for those funds. It does us all proud, to call you one of us. I'm glad we could help.

That sounds good, O'Dell. I'm glad that we could help take some of the sting out of your misfortunes. I support the Wounded Warriors, too, and we can't do enough for those brave men and women and their families.

Enjoy that PM9 when you get it and "shoot it like you stole it". :D

I don't mind telling you I'm just damn proud to be a part of this group and to play a little part in this fine thing we did. I'm glad you guys (and gals multiplying like rabbits, a good thing) let me hang out with you.

I tell people here all the time I got buddys all over the country and now in Thailand too. They mention someplace and I often times remember somebody here that lives there.

Thanks for not running me off. YET.

O'Dell, a brilliant and generous move. I suspect everyone will applaud your generosity.

I think thanks are also due to Bawanna for volunteering to handle the logistics, and to the unnamed member who came up with the idea to begin with.

Thanks to all. I'm proud to be a member of this forum. Mighty fine folks in here.

I think it's "purty" cool that Bawanna & John got a PM9 with some extras for $400+. I wonder if they got to see the Kahr lady's ankles? Get any pictures of her?

Somethings I keep to myself and just refuse to share with others. I know it's selfish.

Sorry.

All the credit for that goes to John. He knows people and is somebody. I thought it was pretty cool too for Kahr to stretch our dollars a little bit further, actually alot further.

O'Dell is a class act. Bawanna & John H did a fine job and handled everything from the heart, can't ask for anything more. No complaints here on what you did with the rest of the money. I'm damn proud to be a part of this forum. And to the member that suggested this idea.............One Big ATTABOY.

Now that's scarey right there. I think maybe you got that swapped scooter. (I know I'm gonna get a horses head for this)

I used to be a complete nobody, now I'm at about the level of the little feet on the ladder that keeps it from sliding (sorry for the ladder association Old Lincoln) but I'm at the ladder and I'm ready to be somebody.

Usually this only happens when I'm heavily intoxicated with medicinal beverages which is the kool aid of the devil and I use only in moderation since I found out I wake up feeling poorly enough due to natural causes without adding poison to the system.

Back on track, I like O'Dells plan, both good groups to support and I'm glad everyone here agrees also.

I need to put a band aid on my tongue, I almost slipped and ratted out the member who thunk all this up and it was'nt Eddie Haskell.

I am glad I could assist, and the good folks at Kahr were a big help getting it done. Bawanna did 99% of the work though, so credit where credit is due there. :D

Enjoy that PM O'Dell, and I fully endorse your choices for charities. Both sound very worthy to me!

Yes, besides thanking Bawanna and John, we shouldn't overlook Kahr as well. Acts like this plus good customer service are what builds up brand loyalty. That's why I own one Kahr and when I can next afford it plan to buy another. And I'm sure I'm not alone.

Good job to all.
