Okay, nobody with a life should read any further. You've heard it all before! All about how I bought a PM9 and why I love it. Like I said, nothing to see here, move along...
In the course of looking for a CCW gun for my wife, we were almost settled on the Ruger LC9. The night before a gun show, we go online and read about what supposedly makes Kahrs worth that much. Sounded impressive, but pricey. Still, we were educated and on the lookout for Kahrs.
So at the gun show 12 hours later we find a new PM9 for $605. I snapped it up. 24 hours after THAT, we're at the range.
HOLY CRAP. Two misfeeds due to sloppy magazine loading - user error. No other problems, in an un-prepped gun! Everything was tight to start, worked in good within 100 rounds. Smooth as silk now.
Phenomenal accuracy for such a short gun. Two-inch slow fire groups at 7 yards, six-inch quick-fire groups. The Glock shooters in the adjacent lanes had bigger groups. In fact, they kept peeking around to see if we were really using that little gun for those bullseyes.
We are simply staggered with the quality and performance of this gun. I'll be ordering her a CM9 in the next couple of days. It's the smallest handful of serious rage I've ever seen, one I'll trust to be there if we need it.
What, STILL here? Well, I guess Kahrs inspire a lot of enthusiasm, eh? :D

Yup, still here.
We live for reports just as you've just given. We'll consider this day a success and maybe spend the afternoon looking for that life you spoke of.
Glad she's working for ya. Our best to the missus too. We'll anxiously await both of your thoughts on the CM9 when you get it to the range.

Welcome to Kahrtalk!
Well you sure do wear the pants in your family. Go to get her a gun, buy the PM9, fall in love with it and now it is yours. She now gets a lowly CM9. YOU DA MAN!!! :)
I'm also the boss in my household... When I'm about to wash and mop the kitchen floor and ask my wife to leave, she does so immediately! :)

Hey Tiki Mon! Welcome to Kahr Talk!
I held an LC9 today. It looked and felt good, but it definitely wasn't a PM9.

Actually, the only reason I'm keeping the PM9 and she'll get the CM9 is the match-grade barrel. She's not the best at keeping things maintained, and the CM9 barrel sounds more tolerant of pocket lint or not having been cleaned yet. Other than that, same Kahr quality, yes?
Where my wife is concerned, price is NO object where safety is at stake. Only the best, whatever the cost! I refuse to risk having saved $200 on her CCW gun and it failed when needed, leaving me alone with my lousy $200. That's a nightmare I want to avoid at any cost. I really don't understand people who go cheap on safety.

Tiki,
That match grade actually refers to the inside of the barrel, not the outside. The PM and the CM use different barrels, but the PM doesn't suffer in the reliability department because of that. PM do just fine with dust bunnies and such.
If you search around for posts from user Jocko, you'll see what I mean.

Tiki Mon,
Congrats on the new PM9 and a successful 1st day at the range.
At the range I often get people watching from behind me and wondering what I'm shooting. Inevitably it ends with them shooting a full magazine down range from my pistol and then walking away shaking their head.
The local Kahr dealer loves it. The entire Kahr line-up have become best sellers.
Please keep us posted on the PM9/CM9 comparison at the range.

I absolutely bet I can take anyones PM9 and insert a cm9 standard rifled barrel and they will shoot it just as perfect as with the "match" grade" Polygonal barrel.

Welcome to the forum Tiki Mon. Sounds like you got off to great start with your PM9. I think your wife will be fine with the CM9. I'd go ahead and do the prep and lube just to get her started off right.

I would agree with you based on what I read on gunblast.com. There was an article written in January where they compared the P45 & CW45 (click here) (http://www.gunblast.com/Kahr-45s.htm) and this is what he said about the difference in rifling.
Accuracy testing was done with the pistols rested hand-held on a Target Shooting Model 1500 pistol rest (http://www.gunblast.com/TargetShooting-PistolRest.htm), at a distance of twenty-five yards. I fired one pistol, then the other, using the same brand and lot of ammo, from the same box, to be as consistent as possible in my comparison of the accuracy of these two pistols. At this point, I will comment about the trigger .... The excellent trigger pulls make these Kahr pistols easier to shoot well than many competitive pistols. Accuracy varied from the best with the Buffalo Bore 230 grain flat point full metal jacket which grouped under two inches at twenty-five yards, repeatedly, from both pistols. The handload did almost as well, with the other loads tested coming in between two and three and one-half inches at twenty-five yards. After firing many groups from the bench, I could not say that either of these pistols is any more accurate than the other. As can be seen in the chart above, velocities were also very close. I had expected that the polygonal rifling of the P45 would give slightly higher velocities, but the converse was true in this case, with the CW45 posting slightly higher velocities with almost every load tested.
Take this how you want to, everyone has fans and haters. One of the things that I found interesting was the velocities of the CW were slightly faster.
Cheers
Ken
