does Kahr make a lighter spring for the CW9?

My wife has a HARD time racking this sweet lil shooter and if things don't improve I'll need to sell it and go another route for her. I lubed it liberally last night in hopes that'd help but I didn't notice much, if any, difference in it.

If its new, go shoot it. Put about 200-400 rounds through it. Its no harder to rack than my old glock 22 was.

it's got 300-400 throught it and the spring is still pretty stout. More stout than my PM9 or my recently departed CW45.

jreXD9:

A method I have taught to weak shooters (right handed) is, with a shooting grip, extend your right arm towards the target with the ejector port facing up. (ghetto/rap vid position)
Grab the slide with your left hand, arm extended (overhand grip, thumb on the top, ejector port side).
Simply use your shoulders, elbows locked, left shoulder back, right shoulder forward, twisting your upper torso, to rack the slide. (push up the slide stop)
The weakest of the weak can rack any slide this way.

UPDATE: A friend at the local range worked with her last night on her grip and stance. We didn't get around to her shooting the CW9 or PM9 but she did shoot the LCR .38 plenty and handled it easily! The recoil was nowhere near as stout as I thought it was going to be and she was able to get it back on target quickly. She's 5'1", 105 lbs of sweet southern belle and I am proud of her. So, now it's nice to know that an LCR is a definite option. I've been wanting one for awhile, but that has nothing to do with the equation......;).

I cut 1 coil off my spare spring. It works just fine and is easier to rack. I also left it locked back for the first 2 weeks i had it, made it easier. I also use a piece of PVC 3/4" i think narrow walled about 1-3/4" long, that i use to rack the slide

what can happen when one shortens his recil spring is that one can incur return to battery. One has to remember the recoil spring does two thing, one is to cut felt recoil (shortening that spring will only increase felt recoil) #2 the power of the spring to now swipe a round out of the magazine and push it in the barrel and return the slide to full battery is slightly deminished

yes it should be easier to rack for u have depowered that spring. Itmight indeed work out perfect for you two, I am just giving you the purposes of what a recoil spring is supposed to do..
