Hey guys,

I read the manual twice, found it easy enough to remove the take down pin, but the darn slide will not come forward and off the frame. Any ideas?

Thanks, Rainman48314 formerly RainmanCW9 (never bought the CW9)

PS. I have some Traction Grip on order, an Alabama Holster-The Offhand, ammo and ready to rock thru my first 200 rounds Tuesday.

I have had a few problems removing the slide, but just keep working on it and it eventually comes off easy. If you check out this thread,( http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1553&highlight=slide+removal ) particularly post #8, it might help. Mainly know others sometimes have the same problem with new guns but they eventually find the spot, and slide does come straight off.

Keep working on it, and good luck.

Cheers

When racking the slide to clear the bll do not pull the trigger, leave the gun cocked, then remove the slide lock 'pin', pull the slide forward while pulling the trigger. This usually woks for me.

After checking if it clear, pull the trigger. line up the marks and remove the pin. Pull the slide forward and pull the trigger while doing so.

videos on the Kahr website for disassembly also.

I tried it again making sure I wasn't pulling the trigger and viola, off she came without a hitch. Cleaned her and lubed her and ready for the range on Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone who replied. My g/f was impressed. "You're really lucky to have those guys!"

On my PM45, I find : chamber check, pin removal, pull trigger, works all the time. On the way back on... sometimes I gotta wiggle the trigger some.

I've found that putting the slide back on sometimes requires a love tap on the slide towards the grip. Still to this day have no idea why it'll hang up sometimes (and i've had her apart maybe 10,000 times LOL)

"All's well that ends well."

That happened to me once. Put the pin back in, racked the slide and started over again. Came right off the second try. I've no idea what I might have done wrong the first time.

As usual, wise members on this forum are right. You're supposed to pull the trigger as part of the disassembly procedure. This is directly from the Kahr manual [from the Dismantling (T, TP, P, CW, PM & MK Series) section]:

Step 5. With the Slide Stop removed, pull the Trigger to release the Striker then push the Slide forward off of the Frame.

Followed the manual to a T. It didn't work.

Rainman, try this. After removing the mag and racking the slide (verifying the the pistol is not loaded), remove the slide stop. Then grasp the slide on top and pull with a slight forward pressure (as in removing the slide) and pull the trigger. When I do this the slide pops right off. If yours doesn't then you have a problem that may require you to send it back to Kahr.

I don't know for sure but picture in my mind the cocking cam rests against the spring and moving the slide forward just a tad gives it room for the trigger to pull it down to clear the slide removal.
