I went to my sister-in-law's wedding in New Jersey some years ago. I am & have always been a working cowboy. Yeah, big hat & all. Her reception was on the second floor above a bar, but the restroom was in the bar. I entered the RR & was immediately surrounded by 6 or 8 half drunk yankees making fun of me. I knew I could only take out 1 or 2 at best. I was unarmed, of course. As I was deciding which one was the leader, a BIG black guy stepped up & said," He's cool. He's cool." The drunks just walked out without another word. I had never seen that guy before or since. I just smiled & nodded to him. He did the same. I'm white & so were the antagonists.

Awful feeling isn't it? In your own crowd somebody's always got your back, but as simple as pulling away for the restroom separates you from the herd. Thank you whoever tou are, "BIG black guy".

Gee, I haven't been in a fight since the seventies. That's unusual considering how confrontational I am. My ex-wife said that I was arrogant and opinionated, and those were my good qualities. The last guy I hit was a cop, and that's as close as I've come to being arrested. Fortunately, his pardner let me go while he was changing his uniform. I knocked him over a table and he hit the floor with a pitcher of beer on top of him.

" I was unarmed, of course."
Why? Of course were you unarmed? Not that guns might have been the answer in that scenario.

Unarmed? It was New Jersey! I would loved to have had a can of pepper spray to fill that room even if it would have gotten me too!

New jersey has some of the most draconian gun laws around. hollow points are outlawed, with up to a year in prison for EACH BULLET posessed.
and new jersey as a whole is just an awful place.

Sometimes I read and totally miss important key points like location.
I'm adding New Jersey to the places I don't want to visit.
I suspect Jeepsters description is right on the mark so I'll steer clear of it.

I had countless "experiences" with many against one situations while liveing on Chicago's south side. In fact several members of my immediate family knew that terror. I decided to carry, despite the laws, because if there's any place on earth where people ought to be able to arm themselves, Chicago's south side has to be near the top of the list.

They outlaw hollowpoints?? They must like over penetration and dead bystanders. Not that all hollowpoints stop in the intended target.

Hmm, one good ole boy against a half dozen yankees, them yankees shoulda been the one's calling for backup. Glad you made it out of there ok.
New Jersey outlaws HP ammo with a year in prison for each bullet?????? DAMN.
A killer can get out of prison in 7 or so years, but you could be serving 50 if you had a full box of HP ammo on you? Sounds like libtard logic to me. Glad I have no reason to visit that state.
I have 22 states that reciprocate with my states CC permit, I think I'll travel and spend my money in those. And you can get to most of them without going through the states like Illinois.

Actually, it's not so I call bullshit.
Even thought I had the chance to move away to a more gun friendly state, I still visit NJ frequently to visit my family and also for work. The difference now is that it's a great place to visit, but I can't see myself living there again. I always thought NJ was great because you could do just about anything you wanted to do in about an hour drive. Skiing, gambling, sunbathing, clubbing, theater, art galleries, historical sites, you name it and it was only 60 minutes away.

Disagree....I go with hedgehog. I've lived and worked there, worked into Jersey from plane trip distance, once married to a native, and found current wife there. From Exit 9 south it used to be fantastic. Now I avoid it like the plague. It's a great case study of government destruction of paradise and citizen sheep. Coming from the perspective of someone who can still legally carry in the state.
