Read some recent posts about some trouble with the CW45 jamming, I want a 45acp and think the CW45 would make a great pistol.

In the last 6 month I have bought two new handguns, a Glock 19 gen4 and a MPA Protector 380 both are jam-o-matics, both companies have horrible customer service, both guns are not working right now, at least not well enough to trust my life with.

So you can see my apprehension in buying, I have a PM9 that has been a joy to own, flawless so far 800 rounds.

CW45 owners please chime in.

Yes, they are reliable.

Hi MichSteve. I have to agree with you that it's become a real crap shoot when buying new guns over the last 18 months or so. One of the good ones for me has been the CW45 I purchased. I have done nothing to it other than to add a grip sleeve and keep feeding it ammo. I would say it's been Glock-like in it's reliability, but I see you are having issues with a Glock. That boggles my mind.

I was considering swapping my CW45 for a P45 in black with night sights. I think I would be better off sending the gun out for a blackout refinishing and having someone install a set of night sights. At least I know the CW45 is a solid foundation to start from.

There are lots of issues with Glocks, from spring, spring type, spring breakage, trigger breakage (the trigger itself), to barrel wear (on the outside). Nothing is perfect. But they make it right, as they should! Kahr does the same thing. Its an annoyance, but... at least they do. Of all the 10,000's of guns Kahr sells, very very few have issues. Of those, the issues tend to be "I've got a burr on my barrel, slide, frame, ass", or "this gun looks used but I bought it as new in the store".. that sort of thing. There are some issues related to ammo. There are issues with a few parts - slide stops and trigger bars seem to be the main ones. You hardly ever hear of a barrel bad, but some get a bit extra polish. Ditto slides. Of all of 'em, I know of only one or two that folks really had issues on - that were never resolved fully. One was the ejection pattern hitting the guy in the face. The other was one that never did shoot well for its owner (but others seemed to have no issue with). That happens with every autoloader out there, every brand, every model. You do find once in a while that the gun just wont work for some folks.

Bought my CW45 new at the end of January, did the prep as recommended and took it to the range. Had a lot of FTE and took it home and took the slide down and did a real thorough cleaning. After 50 more rounds started to have the same problem. After more than 500 rounds was not happy with my purchase. Emailed Kahr and they sent me a prepaid return label. Seven days later got it back with an invoice saying they had replaced the extractor and polished the ejector. Have now put over 250 rounds down range without a hickup. I am very pleased with this gun and it is my home defense weapon.

I had one FTE about round 40 and then I have had no issues at all in the last 1500+ rounds. It is a fantastic weapon.

My CW45 is only a month old and has been upgraded to my full time carry. To date I have 350 FMJ plus 20 speer god dot 230 grain rounds through my 45, all have 100% trouble free. Yes my CW45,CW9 and PM9 are all 100% reliable.

Mine is still in the break in period, so I am hoping things improve.

Mine got sent back to Kahr after the first 200 rounds. Trigger wasn't resetting. I have faith that they will get it running right and return to me a reliable pistol. I've seen this happening with 3 others on the forum. One fixed it himself, was a matter of bending a part to where it worked properly. I wish I would have looked to see if I had the same problem before I sent it back to Kahr. Customer service was very nice to me, and immediately offered to pay the shipping charges.
My friend that introduced me to Kahr, has a CW45 that's been running over a year and half with no problems. I have a CW40 that's been great since break-in. It had some problems, mostly my fault with limp-wristing it. These little polymer frame guns will point out any problems you have with your grip in a hurry.

The thing to remember here is that Kahr pistols are finely engineered and manufactured to very tight tolerances, and like anything else made by man they can have issues. Once those issues are resolved they run like the finely tuned machine that they are.

And take all the issues that you read about on forums with a grain of salt, because the one's that post issues are looking for help. The thousands and thousands of folks who's pistols function flawlessly out of the box don't typically run out to post about it because they don't need help. Yes, there are folks who post positive results, but they're not posting by the thousands.

I had an issue with my CW45 during the break in period, but once it was solved it has performed flawlessly and I trust it with my life on a daily basis.

u did right in sendig it back. If the trigger bar was out of spec and one bends back in shape, good for them. I just don't recommend it, for it you fail , kahr I would think wold be able to tell if the triggert bar has been modified. . Sometimes we can mask over an iusse buy doing something else to the gun to make it right. U did the right thing. I have seen entire slides replaced by kahr as the maching was out of spec, now u might do some bending of the trigger bar to make it go bang but if indeed the slide is out of spec, IT IS STILL OUT OF SPEC. We just don't khave that convenicne of new parts sitting in front of us to replace until it is right. It willbe right when it comes back, a shame it had to \go back and we know you tried everything on this forum to.. U will be rewarded with a fine gun when it comes back.

Well, I have a P45 (older) and the wife has a shiny new CW45. When I'm not stupid (not seating the slide stop properly) they both belong to the zero malfunctions club.
