I know that they need to be changed after about 1,000 rounds...but why would I be interested in an extra power recoil springs? Because I regularly shoot +P, even during range sessions?

I've only changed recoil springs in my LCP and found the perceived "bite" to be somewhat softened as well as brass landing close to my feet instead of scattered across the range. My .40 Beretta stacks the whole mag in a nice pile ... well not really but most I can pick up with out taking a step. It was an appreciated upgrade and now wondering if my soon to be coming CM9 will benefit from an upgrade. I plan to be shooting +p as well.

Heavier Springs will also affect the timing and ejection of a pistol. They also help if your chamber starts to get fouled. Personally, I like stiff springs, I think they last a little longer, but there is a trade off. A gun that was easy to rack can be become difficult to do so, which leads to problems when you hand it (under supervision of course) to another shooter who is not used to that. When it comes down to it at the end of the day, your call, but good luck finding some stiff ones for your Kahr.

if wolffs makes extra power recoils spirngs for ur model of kahr, THEN THEY WILL WORK FINE. What jlottmc said is dead on target. Your recoil springs at 1000 rounds in ur kahr are stil lin excellent condition, but they are cheap to replace, so replace at "will" or "peter" or what ever.. Poundage in recoil springs certainly have a + or - leeway, as wolffs has proven that with sub factory poundage springs even and heavier than factory springs.

Take that Ruger lcp, that sucker has a 9# recoil spring in it and the brass goes into another planet. but with the 12 or 13# recoils springs that wolffs makes the gun works perfect, felt recoil is certainly down and brass stay in our orbit BUT it is harder to rack--duh, now what was ur first clue "watson".

these gun companies IMO normally put in a recoil spring in certain models that is way under strength, but they know the user can use it that way and be OK and that is where the 9# in the ruger lcp comes into play. Most every person can hand rack that lcp but with the 13# springs in there many cannot, so Ruger in this case went with the percentages fully knowing that this gun is also not going to have 20,000 rounds out of it either.

I always questioned to myself as to why the kahr PM9 and PM40 use the same exact factory poundage srpings of 18#. Makes no sense to me with the 40 cal being so much more powerful, because IMO I felt that if kahr went to the 20.5# spring that wolffs offers that they might get alot of complaints about hand racking, and again they kjow that most owners are not going to put 20,000 rounds through a 40 cal either.

I will say this and it is confusing to some, if you have the new style kahrs PM40 and PM9 and now the cm9 with the beveled extended fron slide WOLFFS MAKES NO SPRINGS FOR THAT GUN YET.
My bet is that wolffs is not even aware of this slide length change, even though they make the recoil springs for kahr, and some one on here posted that they called wolffs and ask if the springs they sell for the old style PM9 will fit the new style and they were told yes. IMO, this is totally wrong, now they will fit for sure, anyone can put a shorter recoil spring on a gun and it will work, but it will not work like designed. We know that the longer 15 coil recoil spring will not work in the old style PM9.. Kahr would not have two different length recoil sprngs for the PM9 and PM40 old style vs, new style if there was not a design change that required it, and they lengthened the slide..

Thanks for the heads-up on the different slide lengths. It looks like there's no reason to go to a higher power recoil spring when it's time to replace it, so I'll just stick with the stock power. Thanks for all the info!

Has the length change been an issue for custom shaped or fitted holsters? Just exactly what is the length difference in inches? Thanks

Only about an 1/8'' or less. I haven't heard of any major holster issues so far. Just enough to need a different recoil spring.
