My PM9 is being replaced as my EDC,,,, since my PM40 is the virtually the same size,, I took the plunge and have begun to carry the PM40 daily, one less round, but a little more umph....

Anybody else made the same change?

when i carry iwb which is often, i find myself carrying my glock 27... it's not as pleasant to carry as a pm40, but for 11 rounds and glock performance I can't complain too much! I am thinking about dumping my pm9 for it's sister the cm9... Congrats on your new carry piece!

I bought a G27 added a G23 mag with a sleeve, tried it and sold it

I am certainly learning my limitations in terms of comfortability

I've been pretty much committed for at least 15 years. I can afford to shoot 9mm and I shoot it reasonable well. If I were going to move to a larger caliber, it would be to the .45acp, which is where I started in the mid sixties.

I just sold my Glock 27 gen 4 for the more comfortable to carry IWB (for me) PM45. Very glad I did. I went from LCP (.380) to 40 to 45. Skipping 9 alltogether. Back in the 90s I had a Colt Double Eagle 6" barrel, but it got left at home most of the time.

PS i went to the 45 cause if the 4 don't get them, the 5 will!!!

What magazine extension are you using? I have a couple of mags with +1 Glock extensions, but find I prefer the standard magazine when carrying the G27 IWB.

I still carry my PM9 in warmer weather every day but last year I decided to move up in power for the fun of it.I gave considerable thought to the .40 but I decided that if I was going up in power,I might as well do it right. So I bypassed the .40 and jumped into the .45 arena. My .45 conceals easily with a lot of my summer wardrobe and the PM9 works fine with the rest.I`ve never felt undergunned with a 9mm loaded with 124 gr.+P Gold Dots so there`s no problem there. My only problem is that there is a lot,and I mean tons of temptation in the .45 market.Get thee behind me Satan.

I sort of went with the rational from many Defense Weapon & Carry Discussion Forums,,, don't use anything less than your police force uses,,, so .40 cal is OK for me.

If I ever go up to .45, and some day I might, it would be in a 1911 variety pistol

our poolice force here carry's 9's 40's 45's. does the term screw balls fit here??

Ur certainly not under guned with a 9mm,(more police dept carry 9's than any other caliber combined) it ain't a 40 either and IMO you will read far more of people owning kahr 40's that report of alot of recoil and not alot of fun shooting it, So if ur not gonna shoot with ease the gun that might have to save your life, then IMO get another gun.

99.995% u will never have to use that gun in a life saving situation, so why not have agun that you canh also enjoy shooting until the cows come home. I think also that is the main reason the 9's are so so popular. They donb't beat the dog piss out of u.

Certainly one has to notice that when any gun other than the 1911 models comes out the first caliber is 9mm. There is a reason for that. IMO.

I'm not trying to be a smart a, but why would you do that? Is there something about the CM9 I'm missing that makes it better than a PM9?

Or your gun. There have been many instances of the .40 causing problems with the guns that shoot them. With the Kahr's cast frames, I'd be afraid of the .40 in a Kahr. If I went to .45ACP in a Kahr, I'd probably stick with standard pressure loads and maybe even milder loads like the 185 gain Winchester Silvertip.

basically kahrs have been pretty problem free of 40 cal issues, in the steel versions or polymer versions. For me just to powerful of a calibre in these small ass lightweight guns for shooting enjoyment.

We have seen a few MK 40 with a crackin the mag well area but this was material defect, not shooting defect. but the K series have been super, the polymer series have been super, to my knowledge I have never seen a damage lower on any polymer kahr 40 cal. Just not my cup of tea..

I try to keep it simple, I carry the largest caliber I feel comfortable with i terms of weight and concealment,,, and up to this point it was my PM9,, even though at times, I can only conceal a P380, due to business dress in the summer.

Although i some times where the conceal t-shirt below with either the PM9 and now the PM40

I am thinking about going to a sleeveless Golf Sweater vest over a polo shirt, since i am in sales, this seems to be an acceptable attire for technical engineering sales guys in the Midwest in the summer. I would then use a IWB or Bellyband

The pm9 is over 600 w night sights, the cm9 with cw9 sights will be about 450ish or slightly more when budspolicesupply gets them in in a few months or sooner. JR said they would be around 380ish shipped. So id install cw sights and call it a day. If I wanted to keep the pm9 as a primary I would, but I carry a minimum of two pistols off duty and could use the extra $ for something else. I would like to keep the pm 9 but if I can find a gun similar for pocket carry at a better price without giving up reliability. Just my preference though.

Can I have the belly band?

Its funny, it came free when I bought the t-shirt, but I love the Belly Band it for quick and easy conceal

The belly Band is only $25 and worth every penny of it because it gives you another option for carry

With the Kahr's cast frames, I'd be afraid of the .40 in a Kahr.
FWIW, Browning/FN decided a cast frame was superior for handling the .40 and went that route with the .40 cal Hi Power (newer MKIII 9mm Hi Powers now use it as well).

5.11 makes a super holster typetye shirt, with padded pockets under each arm. any gun will ride there wity ease. I have two of them. They are spandex in design, high quality, made in CHINA.

I bought mjine from the NRA STORE.COM for $40, gotta wear it under something but ho hoster is required, u dohn't even know your carrying a 380 or a PM kahr. Pretty nice stuff. A shame a nice quality company like 5.11 and now their shirt comes from "china"..

I have a T9 and an MK40. While the MK40 is a real shooter it didn't take long to start wearing on me. I had it Mag-na-ported but although that helped with the MagSafes and Glasers it didn't do that much with the standard 180gr practice load. So I shoot that gun less than half as long as I'll shoot the T9.

I can shoot a couple hundred rounds out of the T9 and if I had more ammo and time I could do a lot more.

I'm wore out after only 80 to 100rds with the MK40 even with the Mag-na-port. I'd like to know from those of you with PM40s how much you can shoot them before taking it home to Momma?

You can see pics and shooting impressions of my T9 and MK40 on the T9 and MK threads "T9 back from Robar w/pics" and "Custom MK40 back from Robar w/pics".

Nope, 9mm for me... Absolutely no desire to go with a .40, if anything I'll get a .45 1911 but I'm 100% satisfied with my 9mm choices.

Got a Link for me please?

I bought two of the 5.11 Covert shirts, excellent quality, pockets inside the chest area on both sides with buttons sewed onto the front of the shirt, that are really snaps for quick access... I am picky and I can tell you that this shirt is excellent quality

Blind hog gets an occasional acorn. Least that what my teachers used to tell me.

I never seen a fokking blind hog, let alone one eating acorns. Remind me to never send my kids to the school u went to. I bet that same teacher told you that a " stitch in time saves nine". or a "fool and his money soon parts".

I moved before we got to nines, I think we were studying 7's. I learned the fool and money thing on my own, with a lot of help from all my pals here I might add.

Hogs do dig acorns, I mean like they like em, not rout for em you know?

I have heard that the pistol drops deep into the pocket, does that seem to be an issue? I have been wanting to get one of these, I guess today is the day.

My HOG runs on gas... I remember years ago shooting hundreds of black birds feeding in a hog lot, those damn dead birds never even hit the ground and those hogs were on um like stink on sh-t. I would have hated one night walk home drunk and pass out in that lot... Not that I would do such a nasty thing.

that is for sure. It has a velco closeur even, and my pM9 rides nicely in that shirt and I don't even keep it in any desantis or anything as there is enough padding towards the body area that u don't even know it is there. It is not a fast draw shirt. The opposite side can carry a spare mag or two (or a 123 pak of trojans) and again u would not notice it.:80:

The pockets are also very large. You can toss a full size 1911 in there with room to spare. It's like a kangaroo pouch, theres nothing supporting the gun and it can move around some so you may or may not be able to get a fightin grip on the gun in the pocket but it'll be in there.

As Jocko said it is well padded and doesn't beat you up in the rib cage moving around.

ONe officer here did say his gun fell out of it while he was bowling and went bouncing down the lane, he got it back before anyone noticed. I don't recall now what gun he had and how it could have gotten out as you need to wear a shirt over these. He might have been telling me stories too.

I like mine. Don't wear it often but it works good.

Not that I would do such a nasty thing. My father`s people were from the coal mines of Kentucky and my great aunt woke up late one night from the sounds of a ruckus in the hog pen.Seems her husband had come home drunk and was getting romantic with one of the sows.Wasn`t even one of the good looking ones from what I`ve heard.

Interesting thoughts about the PM40 vs PM9 and carrying. I bought a used PM40 today after shooting about 200 rounds through a borrowed PM9 last weekend. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow morning before work. I have two 9mm and now two 40 cal pistols.

My new-to-me PM40 now has 100 rounds through it with zero problems. The accuracy and trigger is excellent, just like the PM9 I borrowed earlier. It does kick a little more than the PM9, however!

I expected the "does kick a little more line". Not brutal or painful but alot more muzzle flip with the 40.

I love the zero problems line though. That's nice to read right there.

Yep! A little more energy there. My wife really likes rubber grip sleeves like the one pictured below on "our" PM40. According to the package, this is a size "3A". Here's a link. (http://www.qwikgrip.com/page2.htm) You will find a size chart here that suggests that a "3" might have been a better choice, but these work well for me. It does make the PM40 more fun to shoot.

For me it's PM9 and PM40, not versus. I pocket carry them in rotation with a .357 LCR. 2 spare mags with either PM. 4 speed strips with the LCR.

Lowes sells a small camoflage cell phone case that works perfectly for carring 2 PM magazines, or 2 speed strips for the LCR. It can be carried horizontally or vertically on the belt, or clipped to a pocket.

I gotta admit I have visited the website. As soon as I ruin my right wrist and have to take a break from shooting it, I'll send it in, LOL. I just got back from 50 rounds through the PM40 and 50 through a SIG P226/40 and, well, there is a difference in the comfort factor. The PM40 isn't bad, however.

I handled a PM9 at the gun store part of the range yesterday. Sure felt nice, was an all black one too, really looked great, they were pretty proud of it, so they kept it.
If I ever get something that size it'd be the CM9 anyway, since I'm a cheap old bastard. Being a small framed guy wasn't sure it'd really fit my most of pockets. So if I have wear a holster anyway, might as well just stick with the CW's and get the longer barrel and extra round. You know us smaller guys got to have bigger pistols to compensate, LOL.
