Monthly Ammo cost at the range

Considering the break-in of 200-400 rounds for a new Kahr and additional fun shooting at the range plus any range fees, about what will the monthly cost run having fun with a new Kahr. I know it will vary considerable with how many how often, but generally a range from low amounts to high amounts. Do most of you go to the range every week-end or maybe just once a month?

...and join a club, and buy a 22LR pistol.
Seriously though, the basics can be learned and practiced with any gun/caliber, with a 22 being the cheapest ammo.
You'll get more trigger time at $20-$25 for 500+ rounds of 22LR.

I picked up a browning buck mark and love it. The thing is a tack driver and very reliable . We have a shop here selling federal bricks (550) of 22L for $14

sure wish that was the price around here!!!.. spending 21 tax incl. on rem goldies or 23 for blazer

personally, im a 'range rat' and shoot At Least 3 times a week

but my mark 3 sure is helpin me to save those pennies, though i try to have a 'center fire day' at least once or twice a week so the pm40 and a few others dont feel too neglected

come to think of it the MK 9 hasnt been out in too long, gonna need to change that

Buck Marks rock. Love mine. Have thousands of rounds of 22LR lying around. Really teaches you trigger control well for cheap!

yep...my "club" cost $100/year and I shoot lots of .22lr :)
I'm going to grab another .22 sooner or later...my wife always hogs the Buckmark :

I usually go to the range once or twice a week and have a membership and an ISSC .22lr for cheap shooting. That works out to about $7 a week in range fees and targets. Also, I have an airsoft M16 that I use to shoot coke cans in the back yard.

I belong to a regional State of Ohio outdoor range. The range pass is $25 per year. I probably shoot 200 rounds of Winchester White Box 9 mm per month, which costs about $45.

A friend of mine and I reload .45's. I'm saving my 9 mm brass to start reloading for the PM9. That should cut my expense in half.

Kahr recommends 200 rounds for the break-in. I recommend double that to get use to shooting a pocket pistol. I've been shooting handguns for more than 40 years, but never something this small. It's a whole new game, and a lot of fun.

All guns need some rounds down range, most every gun will smooth out after a 100+ rounds to. recoil springs now take their designed set, magazine springs are easier toload as they have also take their desinged set. This is just part of owning and shooting a gun. Call it break in or what ever. I bought my PM9 for personal 24/7 carry so I shoot it like I stole it. To buy a gun and put a 100+ rounds through it and then basically retire it to the defense table or crarry and not shoot it alot is certainly not getting to know the gun either. eash to his own. Metal srufaces that move against each other have to mate up and nothing better than rounds down range for that to, and enjoying it while it is mating up. Go ito the first shoot expecting maybe a few hic-cups, if you get none which most all guns today will give, be happy about it, if you get a few, just keep shooting and again most of those issues will go away, as you and the gun mate up better.

I use my buckmark every shooting session with at least 250 rounds minimum. I also shoot my rang 9mm glock 17 every session with at lease 50 rounds minimum. I also shoot my carry gun (currently a pm45 Primary and LCP secondary) at lease 2 mags every session or once a week on average. I also like to shoot factory loads for these two. Some weeks I shoot 2-3 times a week some weeks I dont get to shoot, but I almost never miss two weeks in a row.

I start with small calibers and move big, then alternate. If I get tired of my hand cannon, I cut back to the 22 for 4-5 mags or the g17 for a mag or two.

I reload 9mm 125grain lead rounds for about $5/50 rounds. Primers $30/1000, 125grain led $28.45/box 500 and bullseye powder $17/1lbs (7000grains/4.5grains/load gets me about 1500 rounds a pound). That makes it my go to centerfire cartridge.

I've been going about every five days because of issues with new guns. I expect that with golf season I'll cut back a little.

When I shoot 22LR in my Beretta Neos, its under 3 cents a round,+ $15 per hour range fee. My 9mm ammo is usually around 25-26 cents per round. My 380 ammo is about 34 cents. ALl this includes taxes or shipping depending how I buy.

An hour at the range is usually a total of $25 to $30

Boy am I glad the ranges around us don't charge by the hour. I think its like 10 or 15 bucks for long as you want to be there. I only get out maybe once or sometimes twice a month but I'm usually there minimum 4 hours.

And as I don't hand load any more (used to do .357 and .44 mags and .270 but due to lack of work space don't do any of it anymore) I was talking about shooting factory ammo all the time. Haven't priced any 9mm ammo out of the store yet.
