Have ya'll been readin' & lookin' at the new Ruger 1911? Looks real nice in stainless only now with black hardware, a real eye catcher to me. It is supposed to be out in a few weeks. They say it has a 4.5 - 5 lb. trigger. I don't have a .45, but I think I may soon. Don't know why. It's too big to carry at 43 ozs. Guess we don't need a reason, do we?:D:86:

I'm aching to see one myself. The few pictures I've seen look really good to me. Far as the weight, if you like it good enough you'll find a way to pack it.
I've never had an issue packing even a full size like the ruger. I sweat comfortably under a light covering garment with a wonderful piece of mind. Course the PM45 on the ankle helps the comfort level too and plays first base when it's just too hot and the 1911 has to hide someplace close by.
Like Clint Smith I think said, it's big when I put it on and it's big when I pull it out.
Go for it Jeremiah, I can't be the first to own one so it might as well be you.

Got mine on order. I've been wanting one for years. Called my LGS the day it came out. :) The 1-2 month wait will give me time to save up.

I read somewhere,(another forum) that Ruger may be comming out with commander and officer models also. Looks interesting though. I'd like to see one in person.

You might as well get a 45 if you don't have one. I finally broke down and got one last week. They make a big freakin hole in the target and it takes less rounds to shoot out the center. (just have to get the bullets close enough) with the bullets that is :)
Ah, Hickok45, the youtube patron saint of shootin stuff.

I want a full size anyhow, I got enough carry guns (some of them full size too). Fact is the Ruger would probably go in the carry line up too.
You need a full size to run with that CCO.

Yeah, I'm thinking full size too, as I have Kahrs & S&W's for carry. The .45 just means I have to buy another set of reloading dies to go with the plethora that I have now.
I have always liked the .44 special & just never bought a .45, but it does look impressive. I have always liked revolvers & then I ran into those GD Kahrs. Love 'em!:D

Oh I'd like a full size 1911 too. I've been looking around at them for awhile now. Just thought I'd mention that Ruger my have more to come.

I wonder how long it'll be on the market before it's recalled - it's only a design that's been around for 100 years :D
That said, I'd rather see ruger get off their haunches and design their own guns, instead of stealing other designs and making them prettier.

Everyone else that makes a gun has stolen the idea. I've wondered why Ruger took so long. It a darn good design to steal, difficult to improve on. I think John Moses would be proud.

I stopped by my LGS today, and when I asked if he might have one of the new Ruger1911's, he, and co-workers just smiled. He said they have 'em on order , but may be up to 6 mo's before they hit the store. He said he already has customers pre-ordering them.
(Oh, for Bawanna, and others who might reside here in NW Washington, Ruger reps will be at "Dave's" in Lynden, May 21, and I was told, "there will be sales" going on, and to wait til then before I buy)
I'm looking pretty hard at this 1911, and also the Ruger GP100 .357. Haven't decided which one yet. He said the 1911 will probably run about $700.

As one who has that 4" GP-100, I say get one. I have the old grips and the Hogues for it, what a sweet shooter too. It's big yes, it's heavy yes, but it's a nice gun. Built like a brick 4 holer (with inside walls too). I like it, as for the 1911, I'll play with one when I can, it looks fun too.

I've got 2 4" GP-100's (one stainless and one blued), and an SP101. They are GREAT guns w/ superb personality and fun to shoot. I've also got and prefer the old style grips. Ruger makes a top-quality firearm.

The only Ruger I have now is my LCP, and it's days are numbered since I got the new PM9 yesterday. I sold my KP345, not because it was a bad gun, it wasn't, but because it was just too big and heavy for an eight shot 45. I might have looked at a SR1911 a month or two ago when I was replacing stolen pistols, but my 1911 collection is now complete with a small, medium, and large - STI, SIG, and lightweight Springfield.

I'll probably pony up for an SR1911, but I'll need to see one first hand before doing that.
I like Ruger and have had some fine firearms from them. The problem is that the ones I like the best are discontinued now:(
The Security/Service/Speed Six family.
My Speed Six:

The P90
Here's mine, it's the reason I don't own a SIG P220 (not a big fan of large SA/DA 45s, so one is enough, besides I've never shot a 220 that would out perform this particular P90):

The Vaquero Grande (well that's what I call the older, larger Vaquero).
My Bisley version:

The Standard, MARK I, and MARK II series of Ruger's .22LR Semi Auto.

That Vaquero blows my dress clean up over my head. I've seen it before long ago but that is just an absolute sweetheart. Looks like it's got to be 45 Colt?
I have a birdshead blued version, reportedly the last one shipped to Washington. I love it too. My favorite birdshead handle, I love birdshead handles is my Uberti though. A bit lighter and works just like the old colts, leave one empty, half c0ck to spin the cylinder.

Thanks Bawanna:) The Bisley is a .44 Magnum. I have a Vaquero in .45 Colt; I've probably posted it before, but here it is again:

I had a fully engraved birdshead Vaquero, but foolishly traded it off for something else:o I'm happy with what I traded for, but in retrospect, I should have just traded cash for it and kept the Vaquero.

Greg

I want one of the old Vaquero's in 44 mag, with the stainless finish and the 5 1/2" bbl. One day I will have one too.
On the flip side of that I have more Rugers in my house than any other maker. Love them all, in fact today the P345 is ah near. Both of my 22's are Rugers, and both have potted several squirrels, bunnies and other critters. They work well and are accurate enough to be scary. In fact (God forbid this ever happen), I was ever limited to 1 (I get the vapors just thinking about that) gun, it would be my 10/22.

It was our biggest , selling gun maker in my 40 years of business. We just never had issues with any ruger. seemed to never get any in on trades either. Smiths back then were the same way. Not sur ethe shooting industry needed another 1911 out there though but Ruger is close to the last. I doubt if Glock will ever address it, they just aren't into steel framed guns.

Watching Hickok45 give it a workout did it for me. I'm gonna hook up with Jimbar up in Lynden and check out that sale he mentioned. I ain't hooked but I'm following the bait. I want to hold one first but I suspect one will be living with me soon as I see one in person.
