I'm new to the forum and a new Kahr fan. Bought new CW9, fired the required 200 WWB 124 gr. No failures and fell in love with it. Probably the most "natural" shooter I've owned. Cleaned her up and went back to the range for more. After two mags, multiple failures to fire and slide would not go into battery without help. Field stripped and found brass shavings in striker bore, hanging up striker. Stripped the slide and found the striker block would stick down tight in its bore. Emailed Kahr, they sent me shipping label and turned it around in about a week with new striker block and test fire. Great customer service! Can't wait to get back to the range. I will be taking a can of some kind of aerosol cleaner for the striker, as has been suggested elsewhere on the forum, and am looking for a suggestion for dry lube for striker. Also will be keeping an eye on striker block for sticking in the "unblock" position. Also, have noticed a little plastic "hair" on frame after firing. Can I assume this is normal until pistol is broken in? Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom.

Good for you 355. You done good on all accounts. Most of us leave that striker channel dry. Use the clean out hole and blow it out with brake cleaner or gun scrubber or whatever and leave it. It's all stainless in there and never had an issue.
My PM45 rarely gets anything in that channel, it seems some get stuff in there and some don't. No idea why.
I'd say the hair thing is normal. Many I've seen have little strands hanging off like they didn't get cleaned up too good out of the mold or something. Not an issue that I can think of.
Welcome.

a nice job trouble shooting . the litle hair thing is OK. your slide does not run on the polymer4 rails. they are there to help guide on the slide and after itis on, it willnot tuch them BUT new guns might have some slide metalcontqact wiotht hepolymer rails and they will just wear those high spots down.
U should referto the kahr tech section aqhd it on two great sticky's #1 kahyr lube chart
#2 propper prepping of your new kahr. It will tell you how the clean that striker channel and never have to take it down again..
still u did well in the trouble shooting.. some would have piss-d and moaned and bit-hed and cussed..

I also am new to the Forum and my CW9. Just ran 200 rounds of wwb and 7 rounds of gold dots and it was flawless. I followed the tech sticky to the T and did it again after the range. I am very happy with this gun and looking forward to running a few more through it and carrying the gun.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Stick around Islick, we need good reports and happy endings sometimes to keep our spirits up.

Thanks for the input. Jocko, having repaired cars for a living almost 40 years, I don't P and moan much when mechanical things break. I like this pistol so much I can put up with a little run-in glitch. They'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off it to get it back now!

Welcome to the two new members.
355Nut - noticed that you have a P3AT. Liked the one I had for its size but had to get rid of it cause it just wasn't reliable for me. Replaced it with the CW9 and while a lot bigger, I've never had a problem with it.

I'm a bit saddened and dismayed as I felt the balance and tone on this forum was just about right.
Being a kidder I'm sure I'm also one of the guilty. I'll tone it down.

MW Surveyor, I got the P-3AT from a LEO and he had several boxes through it with no problems. I shot 100 rounds of some Mexican made stuff (during the great 380 shortage) after I got it with nary a hitch. A dab of white enamel on the front sight actually makes it useful. After a lady rushed up to me at church and gave me one of those sideways hugs, grabbing a handful of the CW9 in a belt holster, I just carry the Kel-Tec in a front pocket holster in most "social" situations! Fortunately her hubby is LE and she didn't bat an eye.

I would have no problem today IF I HAD TO in buying a kt 380. I think they have most all the bugs out of that gun. It would be last on my list but I would think it would now be reliable. Not so 4or 5 years ago, when they had the market corneredin the 380- and 9mm compact area. No one had anythig near what they could offer, but there IMO quality and workman ship sucked. I would not own the PF9 today for althoug it might go bang, it is not a pleasant gun to shoot, most who own one will state that to. They had a saying over on the kt folrum that the PF9 was a gun you carry often ad shoot seldom and I think that was true. The are not tdaopy nmber one on the block any more, probably not inthe top 3 even in the 380 and 9mm compact markets. they do have a lifetime warranty on their gun but the 40cal kt owners soon found out that didn't mean a hell of alot once kt dropped the 40 cal. Their turn around time on any gun that Isent back to them which was many was never any faster than 4 weeks and hit on 8weks a few times even. Kahrs seems to be way ahead in that area. Eventholugh Ruger basically copi9ed the kt and later on even had to refine it to make it safe, I would buy a Ruger any day over a kt. The kahr P380 fills a small nitch in the ultra compact market as the price point is alot higher than the kt and lcp ruger and we know it has issues to... Just for me when I bought my PM9 I found it can go damn near anywhgere my kt or lcp could, so I peddle dthe kt's and gave my son the lcp and I have agood working (now) P380) sittinbg here on the desk.

Guys, I really liked the P3AT but it just didn't work out for me. As for the PF9, that's the gun I was going to get before I looked at the P3AT. I'd shot them before and knew that they were no range gun but the one's I shot did go bang and I never had a real problem with the recoil.
Would I get another P3AT, not with the choices in today's market. Would I get a PF9? If it was used, worked well and was cheap. However, don't know what I'd do with it since my CW9 fills my small pistol needs quite well.

The 6000 round thing started on the KT forum for their life expectency of their guns. supposably came from KT even. That was the first time I ever seen where any gun had a actual life. Thats how the term carry often shoot seldom came about. but like ay guns and if kt stayed in business they had a lifetime no questiosn ask warranty.
All guns break in time, doesn't mean they were junk, but kt's were like the military 1911's loose as a goose.. Less issues that way, it seemed.
