Am I the only one that thinks Kahr should change the plastic boxes their pistols come in? I'd like to have one thats lockable with foam on the inside.
Thoughts from the group?

Kahr makes and uses two boxes. One has foam... no lock though and that's OK by me as I don't lock any of my boxes anyway. The foam box is nicer than the regular plastic box. They could drop the hard plastic box.

I too would like to see a lockable box. Then I wouldn't have to buy a separate one to satisfy FOPA.

My four Kahrs all had the hard plastic. I've never seen a foam Kahr box, but I'd like to have one.

My K9 came in a hard case, hard interior.
My MK9 came in a hard case with a cut-to-fit foam liner.
Serial # on the boxes match the guns.
I have no idea why the difference.

Who uses a box? All of mine stay out but locked up, in fact I think the boxes are a bit of a PITA, as I have to find somewhere to store them. Then again, it would be nice to be able to fly with one too. Wait, I don't fly commercial anymore, never mind.

A foam lined plastic box with holes to use an ordinary lock can be bought for $9.99. I actually take multiple guns to the range and bought a very large double thick lockable box for $19.99 . Check out Gander Mountain.

And, you can using the link ripley16 provided (http://www.kahr.com/Case-and-Tools/Kahr-Gun-Case-w-Foam-Cut-Out.asp). However, it looks even smaller than the all plastic box . . . could be good or bad. The all plastic variety does not absorb lubricants. :)
>>Who uses a box?<<
Exactly.... I have a stack of 'em over in the corner. The only time they get used is when a gun gets sold.

The only pistol I currently have sitting in its box is my new 1911. That's only because I haven't got around to buying a real pistol case or rug for it yet. Everything else is either sitting in a holster (when I'm carrying it) or on padded shelves in the safe.
Darn, that reminds me I've either got to buy a bigger safe than the one my wife gave me for Christmas this year or a small one or two pistol safe.

"Who uses a box?"
Those without a license that allows the handgun to be carried, and those traveling under FOPA. A lock loop on the Kahr box would spare these people from having to purchase yet another accessory.

What is FOPA?

It is what lets you buy long guns and transport firearms across state lines, among other things.
Some would say it is federal government impeding state's rights. I say it sure makes the drive to TX from MA a little less nerve racking.

I'm another guy here who doesn't care about the box. I'd be okay if they came in a brown paper bag.
I have a few Pelican cases in which I can store pistols I don't carry. Kids are grown and gone so the guns I carry are out and accessible.

Yes, you've got to remember they used to come in a cardboard box!
