Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I am a female shooter and have only been shooting for a few years. I just bought a PM9 this week and waiting for it. Can't wait to get it because I've heard nothing but good things about this gun. Great to see this forum.
Cheers

I think the prepping thread isn't really necessary (but that's just me). When you get your new PM9, as I did last week, you'll notice it's leaking a lot of oil from the factory. Thank Kahr for that. :) Take it home, field strip it and clean off all the factory oils with a paper towel. Then just lubricate the rails etc with your favorite lubricant, and then go fire it. Nothing more, nothing less. When you're done firing it, clean it again. The end. Enjoy your PM9. I love mine so far. :)

Hey... I've always advocated giving any female with a pistol a very great deal of respect!!!!!

Not to get this thread too far off track.
Welcome to the forum.
One word of warning. This is not your typical gun forum. If you stick around (and I believe that we all share this thought) you will get to know the people behind the guns and share in their knowledge.
(Hope that came out right.)
#2 Propper prepping of your new kahr,
:third:
Just remember "The Ten P's"
Propper prior PM prepping predictably prevents piss poor PM performance.
The reason prepping is good, is because the gun was lubed, assembled and test fired at the Mother Ship. Then they used a transmat beam to deliver the pistols to distributors, who sat on them (ok, usually a guy named Olaf sits on them, not the distributor), then they go to dealers. Transmat beams are predictably slow. So much so, that the company had to close because they insisted on beaming all employees to work one day, and they still haven't shown up.
What that means.... is that wonderful mix of firing residue and fresh lube has now sat in the gun for a considerable period. Along comes the average guy, with average skills, and average ammo, but superlative targets, and he has some problems with dried goo in the gun. Maybe in the striker channel, maybe under the extractor, maybe in the chamber... who knows?
Thats what a prep is good for ANY new pistol, not only Kahr.
And welcome aboard Scorp

The Jocko-CJB 10-P Theorem (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521) . . . Sort of like the Pythagorean Theorem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_theorem) for Kahr's. Yes, I majored in arithmetic in college. How did you know?! :p

Sorry! The CJB 10-P Theorem (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1521) . . . Sort of like the Pythagorean Theorem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagorean_theorem) for Kahr's. Reading comprehension has never been my strong suit.
Now you know why I majored in arithmetic in college.
Fortunately, we got it corrected before it hits Wikipedia.
Still, my abject apologies, sir! :o
On the other hand . . . Jocko's preparation post makes it work, so we will need a dual prize award when it goes to the Nobel committee. :D

u ain't gonna believe this but when I was in catholic school , over 60 years ago, Onenun taught us to spell arithmetic by having us to recall rthe sentecned A RAT IN TOMS HOUSE MAY EAT TOMS ICE CREAM. To this day I have never forgot that learning lesson. She was a smart nun to, she cleaned our plows in marbles alot and made no quarrels about it either, and she played "keepsies" to.

I'll add my welcome too, Scorpio. I, too, just picked up a PM9 Friday, thanks to the good people here, to replace a stolen PM45 and CW9. It's all prepped and sitting in my safe, and I hope to get a chance to take it to the range this week.
BTW, don't worry about Bawanna. He's exiled to the upper left coast, and he's harmless, I think.

Welcome to KahrTalk, Scorpio. Great talk, good people, a bank of knowledge about Kahr firearms and guns in general.
Hope your PM-9 is as reliable and trouble-free as mine. No need to treat it gently, just pull the trigger and let it happen. You are going to love it.
Don't forget the Jocko Prep before you take it to the range.

I can't believe that silver tongued fast talking Jocko is already on Scorpio's friend list. He's never done that before.
I usually wait for 20 or 30 post before I offer any proposals which is probably why Jdlott hasn't been posting much lately. So far I'm engaged to all the rest but Jocko seems to have beat me to the door with the posey's on this one.
I'm apparently losing my charm. Thank goodness I still have my wicked good looks.

Oh an Irish Spring commercial I am. Made for a man, but I like it too. Hmm Guess it's better with an Irish accent, feminine looks and no doubt a pint of the spirits lad.

Welcome Scorpio. I haven't been on here long, but my husband, jlottmc, has been for a while. All the more women is fine. I don't get on much because of the schedule and with a 3 year old it's hard. Oh my! I have a reputation.
If Jocko's racing would you agree to be my third cyber bride. I usually try to wait for at least 30 post but your close enough.
I'm a little scared of your jarhead hubby (ok petrified might be a better word) so you know I ask this at great risk of life and limb. I neglected to even get permission from TD2K, and Melissa but the clocks ticking. I'm also engaged to Zena and MX5 fan but Jocko seems to have run them off too much to my dismay. I think of MX5 everytime I hold my Cbob. She had a beauty that I coveted for a long time.
Do share my reputation with me, I just gotta know. I just hope it's good for just once. If it's bad, don't put it here, the boys will just rib me relentlessly.
Gotta go watch Biggest Loser and eat Bon Bon's now. bye
