A month ago I bought a pre-owned P9 with no signs of wear, but the LCI indicator does not protrude when a round is in the chamber. This is not a big deal, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem.

Sounds like the previous owner may have modified the part.

sure wouldn't bother me, If mine protrudes on my PJM9 is is very hard to see, although I can feel it. If the gun is reliable, forget about that, who knows it could have been altered for reason I know not why.. If this is ur first kahr maybe u expect it to stick out furthyer than it actully does to. They don't stick out hardly much. It certainly doesn't pass as a LRI in states that reqiuire it .

Thank you, Serafino and Jocko, for your quick replies. As I said when the thread began, not having the LCI protrude on my P9 is no big deal, but I was curious because of two Taurus (TCP 738 and Slim 709) that I own/owned. They each have an LCI with slight visable protrisuions. BTW, contrary to the many complaints I've read on forums, I never had a single problem with either Taurus, although I did trade in the Slim 709 for the lessor weight and superior grip of the Kahr, especially after I put on a Hogue HandAll Jr. sleeve. Bottom line is that I love the P9 but am still getting used to the longer, heavier trigger pull. Hey, Jocko, when are you going to put more rounds through your PM9? You've been on hold at 31,500 for a long time...long enough, in fact, for 31,500 more illegals to cross the border.

I am waiting on the illegals to catch up with my round count. I put some great rounds yesterday through my K9 and really had a great shoot with it. The PM9 will be next.
I will say this and not sure they have um in stock though but Dawson Precision sights shows the cm9 for sale on thier site for $435. Now if thay had that gun in stock, I would highly advise while it is there to have them mount their fiber o[tic front and rear sights on the gun and then ship it to the ffl dealer of ur choice. Their price is super IMO and they might even throw n the labor to change the sights.. I posted a photo a few days ago of an owner who installed those dawson sights and they are just awesome.. I was told that dawson if they sell the kahr will install their sights of your choice at no charge for labor and even test sight it in . kinda hard to beat that. They also show the cw9 for sale to. Awhile back Dawson wrote a very flatteringt article on kahrs and his total likes of them. (sorry can't find that article)

FYI, Jocko, Grabagun.com lists the Kahr CM9 at $413 and TheGunsandGearStore.com has them at $419. Buds and Cheaper Than Dirt may have the CM9 in stock and for less, but not yet listed.

Some of my Kahrs are readily easy to feel whether loaded or not, and some not so easy. My P9 is also a "not", whereas my K9 protrudes like Jay Leno's chin. It isn't a feature I use however as I do a press check instead if I want to know what's in the chamber.

ripley, certainly IMO the right way to realy check..
I just checkedmy K9 and it is very visible when loaded, alot more than mh PM9 is..

FYI. I wrote to Kahr and the following is the "detailed" note I received. C'est la vie.
Hello,
The P9 doesn't actually have an LCI, the extractor will act as one. If the protrusion of it is very subtle this should not cause an issue for functionality.
Thank You,

Dear Sir or Madam,
LCI does not protrude on my P9 when a round is loaded in the chamber. Does this require repair or should I just let it go? Thank you.

Does Kahr even have LCI's on any guns except for the MASS PM9?

Gagnejs8 and Jocko, if you check page 23 in the downloaded manual from the Kahr site, you will see the following:
"EXTRACTOR AS A LOADED CHAMBER INDICATOR (except P380) The extractor on all Kahr pistols protrudes outward from the surface of the slide when the properly designated caliber ammunition marked on the barrel is loaded in the chamber. The extraction protrusion allows the extractor to be used as a loaded chamber indicator (LCI). The extractor permits visual and tactile (felt) confirmation of a chambered round."
No one should rely on this kind of check, of course, but that's what's in the manual.

yes urright and I knoew that also, but my point I guess was that those states that mandate a LCI/LRI to be state complaint don't consider that. I. E. Mass. and komifornia. Would anyone think that kahr would redesign their P380 and PM9 like they have ifnot in order to be Ma complaint. ut technically it can be called a LCI as it does os so little move outward when a live round isin there.
