I carry a spare CM9 6-round mag upside down in a pair of 5.11 pants/shorts in the narrow pocket along the left thigh. I've noticed a round or two will pop out of the magazine. This concerns me enough to ask if anyone else has experienced this and what is the cure? I'm running 115 GR GDHP.
Overall, my experience with the Kahr CM9 (my first ever Kahr) has been fantastic. Shoots great, eats up the ammo I feed it and great accuracy from 3 to 15 yards.:D
Kudos to Kahr on this pistol. It's become my constant pocket pistol and BUG when I'm carrying the big Sig duty pistol.

Quite common. Don't carry a spare mag without a mag holder.

Have CW9 same problem when mag is carried in pocket. Bigbob68 is right carried in mag holder no problems. If you place loaded magazine in hand and touch top round you'll see it takes very little contact to pop out of mag.

I carry a spare mag for my LCP in my left shorts pocket (loose) without ever popping out a round as well as left jacket/coat pocket carry of mag. Same experience with my G23, G26, G27, P95, CZ75 and SIG P6 over the years. Is this a Kahr thing? I don't carry anything else in my pocket at the same time, would that make the difference?
Still saving for my CM9.

I had the same issue with my PM9 spare mags until I replaced the mag springs with Wolff extra power springs. No issues in over a year. This was with the mags in a proper mag pouch.

I've carried a CW9 mag (7 round) in my shirt pocket for 2 years and never had a round pop out. There have been many reports of that happening with the Kahr magazines, so it is obviously not uncommon to hear of. Now, the first thing to check is that the magazine spring is properly oriented in the mag body. All magazine manufacturers are subject to have magazines leave their factory improperly assembled. Also, some magazines may have the feed lips adjusted slightly out of spec, which will also cause the problem of not properly retaining the top round.

I've found it to be a Kahr thing. If one pops out usually more follow but I don't usually carry spare mags, just another gun. Rare occasion I will have a spare mag in a proper and trusted mag holder & have never lost a round outta my Kahr mags.

what is the proper orientation of the mag spring?
just look at the spring andhow it angles upward, that upward angle goes in the bottom of the floor plate facing forward.:behindsofa:
an easy way to install the spring safetly is to get a nail and then push in the spring as far as u can with your fingers, then slide the nail throgh the last hole in the magazine and what now sticks out is a real breeze toinstall the two floor plates..

Happens to me too on my CW9,I'm guessing they are just getting excited to get in the gun next and go for the ride, like hauling kids to the amusment park.

i think u made a good point, they are excited and some times they get so excited they just get away from ol dad.. but they are always close by as u well know.
Maybe non-+P rounds feel less "pressured" to perform, and stay in the magazine better? ;)
