Hi all, just took delivery of my new CM9,and before I do a range break-in I would like to put a Hogue or Pachmayer rubber sleeve on,anyone have some guidance on which one will be good.I put the Houge Handall JR on my P380 and it made a difference.BTW my P380 has performed flawlessly since it's return from the Mother Ship..I hope the new CM9 will be as good as the reviews I have read here the past few weeks. Thanks to all for your patience and great advice..

I really like the Hogue Handall Jr on my P9. On a PM or CM it may require some trimming. Don't have any experience with the Pachmayr.

does require trimming for the pm9. i had one on mine for a while, felt good at first, but when i took it back off to try it stock again, i preferred that. its fairly wide.

According to the package, these are size "3A". Here's a link. (http://www.qwikgrip.com/page2.htm) You will find a size chart here that suggests that a "3" might have been a better choice, but these work well for me. They make my PM40 fun to shoot. So, they should do wonders for a 9mm. :D
I should add that I said "they" because I also have one (size "2") on the CW40 with similar positive results.

Glad you posted those Tucson, I thought of them but was too lazy to search for your earlier post. Those look the best of all of them to me. Fit perfect, just right in every respect.
I have Hogues on my PM45 but I like the looks of yours better.

Thanks for the kind words, Bawanna! They certainly amaze me by making even the rootin' tootin' PM40 comfy to shoot.
My wife especially likes the way they wrap up at the top to protect the web of her hand. :D

Tuscon, how would you describe the feel of your grip? To me, the Hogue gives good grip, but not spongy like the Pachmayr that I bought for a G19(didn't care for that one). The one on your PM looks great because it doesn't add the width that the Hogue will. Thanks

that one posted looks nice, doesn't appear thick like the hogue. should add that it's "cozier" in the hand with the handall jr, but i shoot just as well with or without it, and its much bulkier during carry. i have large (not extra large) hands. i'm 6'2. the stickiness of the hogue grabs clothes easy, and usually i just conceal under an untucked t-shirt so it tends to snag more than it does when the grip is bare.
another option is to turn a bicycle innertube inside out and cut it to fit. cheap and easy, many people love the feel of it. doesn't snag shirts as easily as the hogue.

I will try. Feel free to ask additional specific questions too.
First of all, it is dense but adds just enough give on the front of the gun's grip to make it easier to hang on to during recoil.
The sides, perhaps because of the pattern, provide some hand traction, but it does not adhere to fabrics, like the insides of my pockets.
It's probably twice as thick as the bicycle inner tube that I tried first, but does not seem to bulk up the gun's grip much. So, for big hand people, it may not be enough. But, if you like the way your pistol fits in your pocket without a grip, it works well.
I especially like the lack of bumps in the shape and the way the molded-in texture nearly matches the pebble grain areas of the Kahr polymer.
The rubber it is molded from also seems tough, probably because it is dense.

Thanks. I'm currently waiting on a PM to be delivered and wasn't sure about the Hogue for pocket carry because of the added width. I'll give one of those a try.

I can't speak for Tucson but I feel like I've just been slammed, and pounced upon by a Cape Buffalo, or I may have been hit by a Harley with a greasey rider aboard. Sometimes hard to tell.

Actually, I like shooting the CW40 without a grip, even for extended sessions, but the PM40 often pinched my finger with the standard magazine. There's this gap between the bottom of the pistol's grip and metal magazine base . . . no big deal if you perfect your grip, I'm sure. But, I always forget about it until it happens. I suspect the plastic base plate on the CW40 mags is what prevents the pinch from happening with that pistol. I tried plastic bases on the PM40 mags but didn't like them.
Anyway, SWMBO would wear gloves and never complained. That got me thinking about grips. After all, anything for the ladies. You know, you might even get lucky if you play your cards right. The bicycle inner tube thing almost worked for her but . . . talk about making the Kahr look like a ghetto blaster!
So, I bought two of the three available sizes of this rubber "Qwik Grip" (http://www.qwikgrip.com/page2.htm), partly out of confusion about what would fit. The middle size works great on the CW40 and I like the looks, so I thought I would try the remaining smallest size on the PM40. It looks perfect and fits tightly, but squirmed just a little until I put some double backed, clear office style Scotch tape under the ends. That's easy because you can roll the ends back after installation to add tape. Most people won't care about the small twisting movement. If fact it might not even move on a PM9 with its lighter recoil.
I know you don't shoot a PM40 but, man, if you haven't tried one with a rubber grip, you might be missing something. On my PM40 the rubber grip eliminated the occasional pinch by the magazine base. I mean, it's never a pincher now, no matter how you place your hands. At the same time, I discovered I really like the complete absence of discomfort during longer sessions. I mean my hands don't even get tired. That's useful when I ride my mountain bike to the range. The rubber grip also seems to make it easier to shoot accurately, possibly because you don't have to squeeze so tightly to control the pistol's movement during recoil.
Remember, the PM40 is a .40 cal that goes "Boom" rather than "bang" and delivers muzzle energy approaching that of a 1911 with the right ammo. A PM40 is not one of those kinder, gentler 9mm pistols I've read about but don't own. :p
Then again, with your custom stippled grip, you have probably eliminated the bite of the standard grip checkering. I don't know if the PM9's tend to pinch like the PM40's in the area of the magazine gap but it they do, you'll just have to put up with it, rather than cover up the nice custom work on yours. Hey, beauty always has a price. ;)

Why inside out?
Don't inner tubes stink?

Inner tubes are usually neoprene, which has very little odor.
Since they are typically molded and have molding flash or at least raised seams on the outside, the inside looks better and feels better in the hand.
Functional, but not pretty sums it up. I have one on my POS Ruger LCP. ;)
