View Full Version : Meprolight Rear Sight for Kahr CM9
I'm thinking about a two-dot rear sight for my Kahr CM9. Functionally, the current sight system works fine but for the sake of standardization I think I'd like to move to the 3 dot sight system, i.e. Ruger SR9c. Any thoughts on this fellow gun nuts?

won't hurt a damn thing but personally if you get into a defense situation all your gonna see anyways is the front sight., if that even.... the back sight will just fall in place. Ur sure not gonna be sititing there aiming that sucker like when at the range. these little kahrs are what they are. I remember a kahr inside big wheel telling me that these are hand shaking guns, get damn good at that distance and the gun will save ur life. So POA is IMO the way to train with these small guns and u can get very fast that way and very acurate to. u sure aren't gonna mess anything up by doing that . We all try to shoot 2:" groupls with theselittle gun and it can be done if u have the time to do it but in a defense situation, u ain't gonna do that, ur gonna pull up ad shoot it like u stole it and if you train by POA it will be so natural I think also thati why alot of night sights are front sight only. I can't imagine trying to line that back sight, and thenf ront sight up at night and then finding the target to, by then ur dead and buried..

Good food for thought Jocko...I'll definitely keep this in mind. I might be better served with a crimson trace in a self defense situation. At the range I think I'd prefer the 2 dot rear! Hey how about both...:D

well I guess it likes I stippled my PM9 grips, were the orignal ones OK, YUP sure were but we gun people just have to fokk with our guns alittle bit. sights are no different. All are good and most all will do the job but we gotta mess with um. I think we tend to worry to damn much about night shooting, but that is just my opinion. I am up and around far more during daylight hours than I am night time hours by a long shot so night sights to me are certainly not needed but I got um and why, ??/Just because .

That pretty much sums it up. Pretty soon manufacturers will only sell the frame with the serial number on it and nothing else and let the consumer build the darn gun himself!

Go for it. I like the 3 dot system better too. I'm saving up for some for myself.

I have Meprolights on my G26 and they're a nice sight. ~~~ "Still glowing after all these years."

I agree with Jocko on this. With the CM9, it is going to be my pocket gun, I am going to punch it towards the enemy and pull that trigger. No aiming. In fact, for quals, even with my duty gun (Glock 31), unless I am doing the 50 foot shot, I never aim. I just point it and shoot it at the ranges we qualify at (other than the 50 foot shot, all other shots are at 21 feet or less)
All my Glocks are 3-dot night sights as are my HKs. My SIG and Beretta are bar-dot combo, so with the Kahr, it will feel at home.

We shoot out to 75 feet. My PM9 will be wearing mepros just like my glocks and sigs.

Have you ever checked out nitesiters? They are adhesive dots. You will need to charge them with a flashlight, I have tested them and they are brighter than tritium but only glow for about 10 minutes after charging them for a second with a flashlight. Not as good as tritium in my opinion but tthey don't cost much and I am definatly going to have a flashlight with me if I hear strange noises at night.

No I've not investigated nitesiters but thanks for the suggestion.
