MK9 barrel discolorization / flaking ???

So I started cleaning my MK9 about a week ago. got distracted, let the parts sit in Hoppes solvent. I came back several days later and the part of the barrel sitting in solvent turned black and it looks like something is flaking off around the muzzle as well. None of the guns stainless steel parts were affected.

What gives?

u have eaten into the nickel plating . Not sure itis going to effect anything other than that area might be lacking the nickel plating. Not supposed to let a nickel plated barrel sit in hoppes, a sit will damage the plating, expecially for a few days. . Barrelis not ruined as far as shooting it and accuracy should not be effected. Kahr willnot warranty that as this wouldhave to be user error...

New barrels aren't that much, but that is what happened. You will also loose some of the corrosion resistance that nickel plating offered.

unless it just totaly bothers the piss out of u, just shoot it like you stole it. U now have a half and half barrel...
