Turns out that GM (aka Government Motors – Obama owns 1/3 of the company) has sponsored and endorsed a propaganda film on the Communist Chinese 90th anniversary and takeover of the country. Yes, the same country that has the dubious distinction of having the worst genocide of the 20th century. (Estimates are that the Communist Party killed between 49 and 78 million people. Stalin killed approximately 23 million – mostly in the purges & the Ukrainian famine. Hitler is third with 12 million. Pol Pot in Cambodia is way down as #7 in absolute numbers, but gains the #1 spot if you count percentage of your own population killed – hey you can only work with what ya got, eh? )

Anyway I digress. So my question is: does this disqualify GM as a car provider in your minds?

49 ad 78 million. wow what a variance there. I wouldn't want those number people doing my taxes for me.

Well you certainly kicked this devout Chevy man directly in the teeth.

I'll most likely never be able to afford a new car anyhow so guess my allegiance really doesn't matter much. My daughter just bought a brand new Mazda sunday. I've never owned a brand new car. Course I never participated in a genocide or killed anyone I didn't like either. Maybe there's a connection.

Been a Ford/Mercury guy all my life with the exception of a 68 Coupe De Ville and a 61 De Ville 4 door with no "B" post. Last car I bought new was an 09 Hyundai I picked up on the last day of the Cash for Clunkers thing. Got 4500 for my 86 Ford pickup that my kids tore up, plus another $2000 rebate. All the American auto dealers didn't have any economy cars left so I checked out a Hyundai. It's been a great car. It may be foreign but at least the South Koreans didn't build Zero's or Tanks or anything to harm our boys in WWI and II. Forgive, but never forget.

My present van is a 2005 GMC Savana AWD Van and I love it. I've had it since September 2004... specially ordered and received it in about ONE month. I would like to have an updated one in another decade or so... if this one wears out. That's hard to do only putting 6-7K a year on it, though.

It's hard to buy anything that's not Chinese anymore. I just ordered a few more F.A.S.T. Gerber knives and those are made in China now, too. I'm sure my quick Draw model is Chinese made, but I couldn't find any mention on the knife about where it was made. IF it were U.S. made, I'm sure it would say that. I just hope the Covert and the Slate are as tight and sturdy as the QD.

The fact GM and Chrysler took bailout money was troubling to me. If I buy another car, it will be a Ford.

If not a Ford, then a Toyota after the way they were blacklisted.

I have always owned Chevy's. I will never buy another one again. As a matter of fact I just purchased a 09 Forester last winter. GM is denying the Washington Times article saying China GM is a totally seperate business entity with no financial ties to GM over here. Ya right.
I let go of GM when they took the Obama money.

However I am holding on to my 71 Monte SS 454 for now :D

Hmmmmm..."Birth of a Party" sounds oddly similar to "Birth of a Nation".
