I was just curious as to if anyone else is having an issue with the kahr cw9 ejecting a casing straight back at you? for about 2 weeks (i shoot about twice a week) ive been getting hit on the top of my head by atleast one casing from every magazine i run through my cw9. has anyone else had this problem? I cant say it bothers me because i only pay attention to the pistol but it happens!
My PM45 did that until I had a few hundred rounds thru it. I attributed it to strong spring, less than hugely powerful ammo (WWB) and me getting tired. Once it was loosened up a bit, and once I put some full power ammo thru it, all cases exited, stage right.
WWB is loaded at closer to 800fps rather than 860 or so. They claim 830, but... its a lighter load than say, Remington or even the cheap imports. Yah, ammo matters.

I'm going throughout this issue with a different pistol at the moment. When the problem started when the gun was brand new, it was throwing every brass in my face. Loosened the extractor a bit and installed a new recoil spring per the manufacturers instructions so now it only throws the last round of the magazine back at me.
Still not happy with this so it's going back home to the maker for TLC.
This isn't exactly the info you were looking for, but I did want to tell you two areas to check on your pistol the have a big impact on the problem. I wouldn't mess with the extractor, but I would check anything that may be slowing down your slide velocity.

I have about 900 rounds through my CW9 and have an occasional round pop me on the head. I will have to pay more attention to when it happens. I am usually concentrating on my shooting vs where the casings are going. I have been shooting the Remington UMB ammo lately.

maybe ur shooting stance changed any, grip etc?/ strange just one round per magazine but sometimes on the last round it can happen as before trhat last round the empty casing was coming into some conatce witht he new round in the magazine and that wouold gve it some different trajectory. I get that every once in awhile on my PM9 but not enough to even discuss IMO. I beng a lefty lalso put the gun ejection port more in line with me than a rightie, I would think it would clear better for a rightie.. Sometimes just a recoil spring change cures all to.. Even some rounds for some reason are moree prone to..

ive probably got upwards near 1000 rounds throught the gun. it doesnt bother me that i get hit infact, its almost kind of entertaining for my friends to see it. maybe i should clean it since i run it wet and it hasnt been cleaned in probably 300 rounds. Well i guess ill do that now.

Are you shooting indoors or out? If it's inside, then it may not be a direct plop to the head but a ricochet. Outside if it's a direct path to the top of the head, then it's a different story.

I had a Steyr that used to hit me in the head all the time. It was quite funny till I sold that gun for a STEAL.. $300 shipped and 6-15 round mags. Man I wish I had that gun back and I don't blame it for hitting me with spent casing in the head and thank goodness for eye protection.

i shoot all kinds of ammo, usually federal because its only 10 bucks at walmart, but i picked up 200 lellier&bellot from cabelleas because it was only 9 bucks. so its hard to say but i definately shoot the crap lol. ive been picking up my brass and have a couple hundred of the 45acp and 9mm so as soon as i get a little more cash saved up ill start reloading my own. being that im on dissaBILITY I HAVE NOTHING BUT TIME ON MY HANDS LOL.

Rouge is women's makeup, rogue is out of line or opposite of norm....
Yeah man my PM45 use to pop me in the forehead almost evry time when she was new. It settled down after about 150 or so rounds, now the brass piles up to my right rear in a nice neat 2' ft area. It was a bit distracting to say the least in the beginning. Who wants to get opped in the forehead with hot 45 ACP brass? This to shall pass.

I can tell you what can change it a bit. I had a witness match that tended to throw standard pressure ammo 25 feet to the right and +p back throw more back than out but still 25 feet away. I was told to s l o w l y file down the ejecter till brass falls both where you want it and some what in the right direction. I trimmed off a bit over 1/10th of and inch and standard pressure brass feel about 8 feet out and none went back over me any more.

My PM 45 will pop me in the forehead anytime I get sloppy. Anything but a solid hold and I get a wake up, stay focused pop between the eyes. It works well and I take out my anger on the target. Sometimes I even mouth profane words, especially when a case goes down my shirt. HOT.
I've seen this in P380 and PM45. Both were solved by replacing the extractor spring, assuming the extractor is not damaged.

WELL HERES THE PROBLEM LOL, i was watching youtube and the video i was watching was how to take the firing mechanism apart. i had already done this but while putting it back together the tool popped off the ejection spring and shot across the room so i went to the local hardware store and got a new one that fit, it is weaker but when i went to bed after this happened i found the spring on my pillow. it dawned on me i never changed it so i got the spring out of the desk and replaced it lastnight so we shall see what happens.

There ya go. My commander gives me a love tap with some regularity. Thing about that is, it's always right between the eyes, primer side down when it does it. I have done some work to fix that problem, but haven't shot it yet to see if I need to do more.
