Would someone please get out a ruler or calipers, and give me the true and actual measurements of both the CM9 and the PM9. As I cruise around the internet I find discrepancies, and would like to have users' actual findings. Thanks very much!

well there are two different PM9 out there , the old model is lighter and smaller than the new model PM9 which is exactly the same as the now new model cm9.

I'm looking for actual in person first hand caliper measurements. If you have done that yourself, please post the measurements, and I will be really grateful! Thanks!

Hey Marshall! Welcome to Kahr Talk! I remember you from the Christian Gun forum. I had a bunch of Ruger revolvers at the time.

If I had some calipers, I would measure the PM9 for you. Hopefully, someone will post up some measurements for you soon.

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the good word! I'm hoping to get some really accurate measurements. They are hard to come by.

Using a Helios caliper [German made] length from protruding barrel to back of hump on frame above web in my hand 5.510". Height from middle of flush magazine to top of slide is 4.2". This is for PM9 old style [non beveled frame]. Do not have a CM9 to measure.

can't help you on the PM9 or CM9 (yet) measurements, but had to say "Welcome to KahrTalk, Marshall".

Using Orangeandbrown's points of measure... My CM9 is 5.615" long X 4.200" high

That is interesting as I thought I remember that Kahr had posted on their website early last year that the PM9 was 5.25 inches long and 4.0 inches high and this was for the older model, yet you are measuring much more. I wonder how Kahr measures from what point to what point ??? God Bless :)

Thank you O&B, and Beardog, and hello to you too, Mr. Surveyor!

Here's a similar question about measuring, that sort of just has to be figured out. Suppose you were to put your cm9 or pm9 in a rectangular box with (of course) 90 degree angles and perfectly parallel sides. Now you would have to include the extension of the grip beyond "the bump," and the height of the sights. What would be the smallest box that would just barely hold the gun?

That's exactly the way I've always considered handgun measurements to be made. Using the bore axis as the starting baseline the other measurements are made from perpendicular lines.

Here's a photo of the box measurement technique (photo by BOBO)...

Here's a site I find useful, with lots of info and cut away animation of most guns cycling, etc.
There's not a lot of info on "just released" stuff, but most common guns like Kahr:

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why do a few thousandths on the outside matter one iota? I mean you'll never get leather that precise, and more than a couple of tenths it really doesn't matter, as you'll have that in manufacture tolerances. If you are getting more than say a 1/8-1/4" differences you might have a little something there, but even that much isn't that much. I came up in a machine shop and still see very precise differences, but this seems to be a mountain out of a molehill or less. Just sayin'.

That being said, welcome to the asylum, and since I own rat guns and larger. Rat guns are things like (officially) 9mm and bigger in 380 size packages, and 44 spl in a 38 size gun, type things. Yes, my rat guns all start with a 4 too, with my P45 being the largest (even though I could steal the wife's CW45). Again, just my thoughts, not trying to start anything.

I measured my old style pM9 and it is SMALL. HOpe that helps somewhat.

I measured my new-style PM9 and it's slightly less small than the old-style PM9. Hope that helps somewhat, too.

Now I got it, ur saying ur new style PM9 is not less small than my old style small PM9.Even though u think it is small?? Do I understand that right.

You also realize that my P380 is even smaller compared to my old style and ur new style PM9's

I'm wondering if the measurements might not be related to mousegunner's website (seems like a good one to me).
I'd be glad to contribute measurements, but don't have either of the Kahr pistols inquired about. So let me join jlottmc in extending a "welcome to the asylum":)
Regards,
Greg

As jlottmc says, size doesn't really matter, if it just a few hundreths of an inch. He is absolutely right! However, if you are trying to make a chart listing all the pocket pistols with their dimensions, you need to get those numbers. In my opinion there is two measurements where a small difference truly does seem to matter for pocketability, and those are width and weight.

For posting I see your point, and yes width, height, and weight all make a big difference, but aside from posting, you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference. Me, if I were posting, I'd stick to Kahrs' official numbers (less liability that way) and call that good enough. FWIW, I also don't own one of those pop guns either. Like I said before, there will be differences between guns of the same make, especially in polymer. That's the beauty of mass production. Then you have to factor some of the design changes (old blunt style and what have you), that doesn't help either. Again, just sayin'.
