well, my ruger MK3 has approximately 14,000 rounds out of it.
so i took it apart last night for cleaning, and to my surprise, when i disassembled it i realized something was wrong....
well it turns out i have a broken mainspring assembly in addition to a broken rebound spring (unsure if related)
so i'm going to call ruger later this week and see what they can do, hopefully free replacement for parts that broke under normal use
so has anyone else experienced this problem? if so, do you know what might cause this?

i called ruger, left a message, waiting to be called back.. will see what they say about this and hopefully ill be back to shooting my most used range gun again soon
Ruger will make it right. You might get away with sending them an email with a picture in it, rather than sending the gun and/or parts back. They're really good about this sort of thing.

I only have 1600 through mine, so far not problems.
I hope Ruger comes through and fixes that for you.

well, a customer service rep told me i could send it in, but then said they can send me a estimate if parts need replacement... i might try calling them again and seeing if i could just email them pictures like CJB mentioned, that way I wont have to spend a ton to ship it off, being on a college budget

If you have to ship it on your own dime, you might just as well by a Speed Strip Kit from Majestic (it now comes with parts to improve trigger pull): http://www.majesticarms.com/id10.html
You can get a replacement part from outside vendors like Brownells, Numrich, Midway, etc. The part you need runs about $8 + s/h.

Damn GB, I love you! I was gonna put one of them on my MKII years ago and got sidetracked. I'm gonna order up one and get it on there. Makes it a ton easier and better to clean.
I love my Smith 41 but still like my Ruger. Maybe this will makeup for it being left behind so much on range days.
Thanks
