Much to my surprise, when I disassembled my PM9 for cleaning last night, my recoil spring assembly came apart. It wasn't any trouble to reassemble but I did notice that something was missing when I could see threads on the end of the recoil spring guide rod that shows under the barrel when looking at the assembled gun face on. I am guessing it came off at the range earlier that day. The PM9 section of the manual has an exploded diagram of all parts and nothing is really separately identified...no nut or cap or such.

I called Kahr CS mid morning today and they are happily sending me a new recoil spring. I guess there is no way to just screw on the cap or nut or whatever finished off the assembly.

I assume I should not fire the gun until I get the new part, which is OK. I was impressed with how ready they were to just send me a part.

How many rounds through it? They recommend changing them every 750 rounds I think.

There are some threads around here about how to replace the springs and that nut on those assemblies. I have one bookmarked where wyntrout shows you how to roll your own flange nut: http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3934

not true, u can go 2000 rounds in a breeze, now if you wanna spend $25 every 750 rounds, then that is fine, but certainly waqy way to early ..

Received my free recoil spring asssembly in today's mail. Sure was harder to install but I was able to shoot a box of Remmington 124 gr FMJ. Sure wish my holster and mag carrier from Alabama Holsters would arrive. I have the Offhand IWB coming.

save that outter recoil spring off the defective one, as that is all u will need to replace 2000 rounds later, just slip on the outter spring that only has 250- rounds through it, u should be good to go for a few years, unless ur a shootin fool like I tend to be with my PM9..

That is the Flange Nut -- I had to get a new one for my PM40, and they shipped me a complete new recoil spring assy.

The PM9 is running well. I can rack it with the slingshot method, it's flawless with the older Federal 115 gr HP (9BP) normal pressure rds. Locks open on empty mag. My extra mag from Cheaper than Dirt works perfectly. I get an occasional jam with FMJ ammo after I fire about 60-75 rounds. The traditional slap to the mag base and slide rack doesn't work. I have to pull the slide back while pressing the mag release button. A very slow way back to the "fight". Glad my carry ammo works better.

I like the gun but firing more than 75 rds per range trip becomes work. My Sig P238 is much more fun and easier to handle. I am pretty accurate with it, not so much with the PM9. I scheduled a shooting lesson for Wednesday morning. I need to adapt to the DA trigger and still struggle.
