I can't wait to hear more about this.

We also have an ongoing story here in Jacksonville where a cop shot two bailbondsmen without warning, killing one and critically wounding another. WTF!??

Hey Wynn!

According to the story, the call to 911 was upgraded to an armed home invasion. Also, the "bail bondsmen" were described as "armed men ... who were masked and dressed all in black".

If any armed persons wearing masks shows up trying to break into my house, they are very likely to get shot. I might warn them if I am not seriously outnumbered as was this police officer.

Sounds like a severe communication failure to me. Split between two divisions, one knew what was going on, another didn't.

I agree masked men in all black carrying guns will not receive a warm welcome at my house.

I feel awful for the officer and I'm sure he feels bad enough also with all the armchair quarterbacking. Just a horrible bad thing for everyone involved.

Carrying the gun in his pocket... and it went off.

I'm interested to know what gun.

I carry my .44 special revolver with no holster inside my pants, with the Barami Hip Clip grips secured to my belt. I'm sure I'd feel that big cylinder turning if the trigger was caught on something. And it takes about a 12 pound trigger pull to set it off double action so I've never been too concerned about it. It's also the best concealment arrangement I have. Anyone going around with a pistol with a light trigger pull in his pants pocket without a holster or something to cover the trigger is asking for trouble IMO.
Why were the bail bondsmen masked? I can see why narcs do that, but a bondsman? That's liable to get you shot in my neighborhood, don't care what type of badge is showing. I can't read it from as close as I'm gonna let you get to me. Better have something with POLICE in big letters or BONDSMAN that I can see from a distance if you're going around masked around here.

wow this makes me proud to be a floridian. If some masked men come knocking on my door they are def. getting a surprise. badge or not.

Thetmanski, just my point on the gun in the pocket thing. Why do I think the guy had a "worked on" compact 1911, condition 1 in his pocket? I feel safe with the PM45 in my pocket, it takes a lot to pull that trigger, and there is nothing else in my pocket to do that, and I'm mindful of what comes up against the gun on the outside of my pocket.

There's more to that story than is being told.

I still use a nylon pocket holster!
I heard the arguments about the 'Narcs" needing to protect their ID, BUT, I have very great heartburn with the more common use of 'Ninja' dressed, or masked, "Law-Enforcement" or "Peace Officers" breaking into homes without warning! I understand that there is a need for "swat team" action. BUT I think it is called into action far, far to frequently. Too many judges issuing warrants for multiple houses/buildings, unknown perp's inside and other very broad specification. The warrant meets the 'Letter' of the law not the intent! I will probably get flamed for this.

When I did bail bonds work I always called the local PD before we made any move. I had heard horror stories about the Baltimore and DC PD, but every time that we contacted them they were more than helpfull. Most of the time they would drive out, snatch the person up and hand them over.

It was a BLOCK... I mean Glock 9mm that the cops said the man was "playing with" in his pocket:
