Put new slide stop in, fired 65 rounds, 2 FTF - not sure about 1st, but 2nd time SS pushed out like prior. Consulted with friend - he thinks maybe tight package of .45 in small gun is related to problem (pic 006) - he noticed nick on 2nd FTF round (pic 016) and copper on slide stop (pic 014) and suggested filing very little off SS (he had similar issue with his Kimber).
Talked to KAHR again today - suggested I replace the SS spring - did not advise I do it, but if I file anything, just off the flat area behind / to left of shiny spot in pic 14 (not the angled part above shiny spot). What is function of that part of SS other than that is where metal piece in mag follower pushes the SS up into notch in slide after last round ?
Pic 002 is new SS overlaid on old. Not sure if it will retain same shape when in or bend more vertical like old one (pic 001).
Anyone else had similar problem ? How did you solve it ?
Thanks, taxifolia
The shaft on the slide stop has a little bit of a groove in it. The slide stop spring intersects the hole the slide stop shaft passes through. You see the flat spot on the spring? It rests in the groove in the shaft. If its not doing that, then its not being retained as well as it needs to be. If you assemble the slide stop to the frame with no barrel or slide... there should be a slight "catch" as the spring goes into the groove, with corresponding catch to overcome when pressing the shaft out from the other side. Could be the spring needs a little tweakage, or replacement.

Thanks CJB - here's prior post:
Old issue - friend and I both bought one. I've fired 338 (now 403) rounds - had total 11 FTFs (now 13) (usually round was only partially chambered), always on second round. He had 2 of same in first 200 rounds. Don't know if it happened on my first 8, but on last 3 noticed front of slide stop (SS) was out from frame between 1/32 and 1/16 inch - pushed it in and round chambered.
Talked to the guys at range yesterday - noticed with SS in gun, push on rear (serrated part) and it was sloppy, not flush against frame. Took SS out and the pin (through the frame) wiggled about 1/16 inch at end and rotated. They took SS out of a range rental P45 - it did not wiggle and did not rotate.
I came home and checked SS on my MK9, K9098, and a K9 - on all 3 the rear of SS was flush against frame. The pin rotated on the MK9 but not on the K9098. Called friend - rear of his SS was also not flush against frame like my PM45.
Called KAHR this AM.
1. The pin is not designed to rotate, if it does it should be OK.
2. The pin should not wiggle when out of gun.
As usual, great KAHR customer service - they are sending 2 new slide stops.
Tentative conclusion - the sloppy / wiggly slide stop causes it to disengage from the keeper spring on the side of the frame.
I'm thinking repeated bullet hits on SS may have caused the wobble on the SS pin, which makes it easy for spring to pop out of the groove. Question now is filing some material off SS plus replacing spring - will that solve the problem. I'm also suspicious of the spring (about 1/32" diameter) because only about 1/2 of that covers the open hole in frame and that makes it fairly easy to push out by hand.

Two points there - when "in battery" (slide closed) the recoil spring eventually fights the striker spring, and the striker spring will win out. Mine does. You can push on the back of the slide and there's a little "forward" movement to go. After you pull the trigger, and the striker spring is extended and not under any tension at all, the slide is fully forward. I'd say thats more or less normal, and the amount of forward movement is very small, maybe 1/64 inch or so (.015 or so)
Second thing is I think the part was just "defective" and didn't get a good whacking to expand and lock the shaft onto the lever. The coming loose is more than likely the SS spring - maybe made worse by the fluegy part.
