The gun looks perfect, but the barrel looks like it has some wear on the inside. I purchased the gun BNIB from an authorized dealer. Should I be concerned?

I could tell it was factory fresh; the plastic wrap did have a wrincle on it..

Thanks.

First, welcome to Kahrtalk!

Good fortune with your new P380.

I'm assuming when you say "inside" you're speaking about the bore, correct? Did you clean the barrel and then look to see if the "wear" was still there? Yes, if the barrel is truly worn I woulds be concerned and would contact Kahr support concerning the issue.

Don't be concerned. The gun was test fired at the factory prior to shipping and probably didn't get a detailed cleaning. You should disassemble the weapon and throughly clean any new gun before shooting it for the first time.

You Tube has several videos on disassembly if you need assistance.

When you say barrel wear are you referring to deteration of the lands and groves? Perhaps you can post a picture to clarify.

I just used a brass brush and some AMSOIL and it shined up pretty good. There are still some slight wear marks in the twists. Normal for a factory test fire?

The marks that you see might be tool marks or stubborn residue from fired cartridges. This shouldn't pose any problems, but if it bothers you, have it polished by a gunsmith. However, after you shoot it several hundred times, it will polish itself.
If your barrel is truly worn, the lands will not appear sharp on the edges. The depth of the groves would seem shallow and in some cases uneven. A worn barrel will not shoot to point of aim or shoot reliable groups. I would think that it would be highly unlikely that your barrel is damaged.

One fly in that ointment; Kahr uses polygonally rifled bbls in all but the CW/CM models. No lands or grooves per se. I would shoot that little pop gun a bunch before I made a call on it.

My pm45 had "barrel smutz" in it. First firing of jacketed ammo got rid of it. Yah I tried a brass brush before. Don't sweat it. They all have it to some degree or another. An aside... I have gotten a Sig 1911 barrel, and two Storm Lake barrels recently. All three had uncleanable crud. All three self cleaned on firing. Go figure. Only the Wilson barrel was spotless (so not tested).

would u know what SOME WEAR would even look like. It is polygonal rifled, so it doesn't look like a normal rifled barrel either. Just shoot the gun like u stole it and forget about something that more than likely is nothing wrong in the first place.
