I've been thinking about getting the Big Dots on my PM9 but worry the front sight may be too big for the sight channel on the Silent Thunder.
Anybody using this combination or have any thoughts?

Call Garrett Holsters (Sheryl or Ron) 713 828-7812 or email garrett@giholsters.com.

Hey Bill, I'd suggest calling to check too. I think it'd be a tight fit with the XS big dot - at least for mine that I got from Tucker (who used to stock the Silent Thunder). The channel is super tight for my standard sight and anything much bigger would possibly give holstering/reholstering issues. Let us know what you find out when you hear back.

Hi guys. I sent the folks an email and Ron says he thinks the fit would be okay. However, looking down the sight channel with the PM9 in the holster, there is very little room and I don't think it will work. Ron said though, that he can modify the holster to enlarge the sight channel. I'm still ambivalent as to how I'll proceed. I may just leave well enough alone.

Thanks for the heads up. I think that's the only way for it to work - slight adjustment to the channel to fit the bigger front sight. At least on my Silent Thunder. I'm in the same boat - I'd like to have a night sight and the only one I'm considering going to is the XS big dot. I'm sold on the Crimson Trace and I'm sold on Kahr's bar-dot sighting system. I've borrowed and shot some Mepro and Trijicon sighted weapons and I'm far more accurate with the bar-dot (most likely from familiarity, I know). Keep thinking and plotting next moves! ;)

It's a piece of cake boys, just tell Garrett you want a tall sight channel. I have a couple other custom holsters and asked and it's quite common. Easy for them to leave a little more space when they make it.
Get them Big Dots.

Well, I know it's easy as pie, uncle B - when you're ordering a holster. But the question is about if you already have the holster, if Garrett would be willing to take the holster back to adjust to the tall sights. Easy at creation, not so sure at a later date (what cost would be, if possible, etc.). My situation is a bit more complicated as Tucker doesn't deal with Silent Thunders anymore and I'm not sure if they'd be willing to take care of my holster adjustment. The Nemesis would be fine. I guess I would probably actually know if I actually asked, right?

Well spank me and call me daddy, I thought you was looking to buy a Silent Thunder, didn't realize you already had one. How much is your Ma giving you for an allowance anyhow.
I'll wager Garret would fix it for ya if you sent it in and it's doable. I know they tweak other areas but that might be a tough one, no place to gain any material at that point.
You might just have to ring em up on the ding a ling an get first hand info rather than sit around reading my tripe.
I'm fixing to order me up one for my Cbob iffen your aunt do throw a fit, and maybe even if she does. Mans gotta be the king of his castle. Yeah Right!

Well you know auntie is going to throw a fit no matter what, but you survived the last 10000 fits and you most likely will survive the next. Although now that she's CCW-licensed - well, I won't even say it!! :nerd: I have had a Silent Thunder for a long while but my usual is the Nemesis - just a match made in heaven for me so far. Now that it's back to shorts and T-shirts though I'm planning to give the Silent Thunder more action. And I have a brand-spanking new horsehide two-clip from RPollard that I need to take through its paces to see if it's MikeyKahr approved.

Can't speak for Ron but I would be very surprised that if it doesn't fit he will make it fit. It's not a big deal as he would just slip a larger sight mold into the holster and put a little heat on it and form it around the mold. Probably take all of 5 minutes.
