I decided to shoot my PM9 carry gun in a concealed carry match today. I steped up to the line, seated a magazine and racked the slide and the magazine fell out without loading a round. I know you are supposed to load from slide lock but I like to be consistent with how I shoot all my guns and have not had problems in the past doing it this way. So I figured I must have hit the mag release. I picked up the mag, tried again and it fell out. So I switched mags and the same problem. So I tried one last time while holding the bottom of the magazine in place and it worked fine. Before racking the slide I checked to make sure the magazine catch locked the mag in place. I shot the entire match holding the mag in place when loading the first round. Came home and stll had the same problem. It seems to work fine when loading from slide lock. Any thoughts on what to look for? Since it is my carry gun I am a little worried. I have about 3,500 rounds thru it and changed springs 500 rounds ago.
thanks
Kurt

if u can insert a loaded magazne and then cannot actually pull it out of thyegun, then I would not think it is a bad magazine release. shoot it left handed tosee if possably u cold behitting the magazine release andnot knowing it. If the magazine isin thegun, then looking on the right side ofthe grip is that release buttojn in any way not flush with thegun, as it shouldlook when no magazine is in the gun.
again IMO if the magaqzine release is flush with the grip with a magazinein thegun and u cannot physically pull that magazine out of thegun, then shooting it willnotcause it to frall out either unless u are doing something different that yo hadn't done in the start. U need to eliminate the possables first. If u have a bad magtazine release kahr will send u a new one and thereis a phgoto tutorial onthis forum in the kahr tech sectionthat will guide you in how toinstall it, It akes 5 minutes tops.

OK I feel like an idiot. I was riding the mag release when loading the first round. If I make a conscious effort to avoid the mag release I can not recreate the problem.

Weired how the problem would surface after 3500 rounds. When I first got the gun I would hit the mag release when shooting and accidently drop the mag So I filed it down a bit - problem solved.

Thanks

no harm, no foul. remember an idiot is someone who cannot figure out a problem, u figured it out, so at least ur a SMART IDIOT.
