If they sell 1 million rugers of any combination by next april Ruger will donate 1 million to the NRA.

ok guys pony up, nothing wrong with Rugers. They have sold in less then 3 years over 700,000 of those little 380 lcp's..

Well if they get some of them SR1911's on the street I'll surely do my part.

So let us see. 1,000,000 x $650 (sorta street price for the SR1911) = $650,000,000. That's some serious money! LOL

If I were going to buy another Ruger, I think I would buy an LCR since I really like their revolvers. Don't need one though.

Such talk from a lady! I'm appalled. And a southern belle to boot. Surely this can't be happening.

Southern belles have their moments when they are not always ladies. Just ask Scarlett O'hara. ;)

Well I actually wasn't that appalled. I seldom get to use the word since very little would ever appall me. I certainly wasn't offended neither for mostly the same reasons. When Southern Belles are not ladies its the best of times.

Heck I just went and appalled myself and I'm offended too. A double hitter for sure.

Since you've already got a PM9, I'd go w/ the SR9C. I'd stay away from the LC9 as they're still working some bugs out.

I've done my part,......new Vaquero,....and like Bawanna, I'm ready to pounce if they ever get the new 1911 out to the stores. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a hoax, just pic's, no guns.

If I could put my hands on a SR1911 tomorrow I would buy one, problem is no one in middle Tennessee seems to have them. They are happy to take deposits, but I have family coming from Indiana this weekend and would love to have a 1911 in the tool shed for us all to shoot.

I guess they may have to settle for the Colt Combat Elite that a buddy lent me to try out. Just hate shooting rounds through someone else's gun....

There is an LCR in my future.

But there's also a KSG in my future!

Just bought my wife a revolver (SP101) a few months ago. Does that count toward the million? :D I do have a few Rugers in my arsenal, 2 SP101's and a MK II Slabside 22LR, and a "3 screw" super single six, 22LR/22Mag. I recently sold a Vaquero to a friend of mine. I really like Ruger's revolvers both single and double action.

I have not shot the LCR but have heard that the recoil is considerable due to the light weight. However, I am pretty hooked on the SP101's. Although, I carry my PM9 everywhere, the wheelguns are strategically placed (hidden) in my house. :)

I've got two Ruger revolvers, a Super Blackhawk (.44 MAG.) and a 22 Convertable (.22/.22 WMR). They are both well made guns and are really fun for plinking and hunting.

I sometimes find myself thinking about a 1911 and the Ruger would fit the bill. However, I've already got all the guns I really need for fun and purpose. If I ever get something in .45 ACP (I do think about it) I'd want to be able/likely to carry the gun and I suspect a govt. 1911 would not likely see much holster time.

Guess you gun nuts will have to bear the load for us saner folks. ;)

The only 1911 I want is a Colt, but I honestly would not mind having a Mark III target.

And I don't really have issues with the NRA, in fact I do recognize that they stand up for us more than any other organization, but just every now and then they get on my nerves, and if they get on mine imagine how much they get on some of the anti's.

Bawanna

Agreed. They are the best thing we got going for right now. They don't always do everything right and I do get tired of all the junk mail but they are a force to be reckoned with, and that's a good thing.

I've chosen to go the local route and support http://georgiacarry.org/

Bawanna
06-01-2011, 10:40 AM
Thats a good plan Melissa. We have a couple good local organizations that I try to support also but I think it's important to have that big ole melting pot of the NRA to be a collective. The state groups just don't have the money or the clout to take on the federallys. NRA quite often steps in to help the state groups though so we really need to support both.

I joined Buckeye too and they are a long way from me but a good source of information and strongly on our side too.

like the NRA, If u stick with them ur gonna find some stuff u don't like, same way with the forum to, One has to weigh the ttal good withg thge no9t so good. If u think theNRA is not fightiung for our rights, then ur dead wrong. There is also a bigger picture that maybe they see that we don't. the NAR hoas gottenh political no doubt but that is the nature of the beast to, but it is the best NATIONAL organization that we can have. I have gotten alot more political stuff from the NRA concerning my home staqte of Indiana concerning how certain Indiana politicials vote etc, than I ever got from our state organizations. We need um both, buyt my bet is on the NATIONAL for more than likely without the National we would not have State either

Hell I don't like it that Bawanna gives more attention to the females on this forum but over all he is a super nice guy, just got some wires twisted IMO. So ol jocko lives with it and just hopes for the best.

I stick up for the NRA too. Sure they've made mistakes - so have I. However. they have the clout and the money to be noticed by congress, and how many state organizations have that.

I just told my wife that I need to renew the membership. I was really quite bothered by some of things they had pulled. Just didn't help the cause, some of those compromises. I suspect that they've learned their lesson, and things are different now.

Denny M

I too have been disappointed at times with the NRA. But, in the grand scheme of things they are one of the only groups that is looking out for people like us. Don't get me started on AARP and that bunch.

jocko
06-01-2011, 01:51 PM
no organization is perfect, the NRA has done alot and I mean alot for gun owners over the last 30years, so lets not crucify them. If werenot happy thgen lets get some good replacements . A lifre time member does get to vote and I never miss that chance.

Or Indiana gun association could not get through the front door in D. c. where as the nra COMMANDS THAT RESPECT, so I support them as often as I can afford to do it..

ok, ok, u got me on that one.

You give in way to easy. You need to think outside the box. Something like the ice cream was placed on purpose on a closed course and your a test dummy for Harley Davidson to prove that they are tough and that the human in the saddle is the weak link.

Ya think I crossed the line with the test "Dummy" line. Gotta be another term we could substitute for that. Test ???? nothing else come to mind.

Here's my 2011 Ruger purchase:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/KevinJenne/IMG_3573.jpg

The SR9c is one of the best feeling compact pistols I've laid hands on and shot. I did have a problem with a pin walking under high recoil, but got that taken care of. Great with a Kholster crescent moon holster.
I also bought an LCP back ealry in the year. Bought it for the wife. She wouldn't carry it because of no safety, so I toted it for a while and it eventually got replaced by my new CM9 :D Gotta have a pocket gun.

Mine was my own fault. Turn 11 at RA was a gentle bend at the end of a long straight, but crest a hill in the middle. It was a Sat. practice for the race Sun., and I was concentrating on keeping the gas pegged through the turn - hard to do on a bike or in a car because you can't see over the hill. On the third lap the front end got light cresting the hill. I couldn't hold it up with my right knee so I lowsided, and slid forever down the hill. [at least it seemed like it]

Ruger does make good weapons. I own a few right now. The NRA could use a million bucks they could also use some management advice, but lack of quality judgement does not deter their stated goal.

Any orginization whose purpose is to protect our second amendment rights is valuable and irreplacable. The more successful ones are very much appreciated. However when they stop becoming advocates for their cause and become advocates for themselves, I loose a little respect and tolerance for their never end non stop bombartment of junk mail. Whoever they may be.

Wow ole Bill Bannerman has a smile on his face from beyond.

In my youth I spoke to the man himself on the telephone when I blew up my blackhawk 45 Colt. He actually answered the phone himself, said he liked to move around to the different departments.
Even though it was completely my fault, buldged the cylinder using PO Ackerly triplex loads he told me to send it in and they fixed it. Refinished in a box looked like brand new. Lost all it's character from years of carrying it.
Wish I hadn't sold it now.
Simple phone call to the man is still one of the highlights of my life. Genuine good guy.
