with Bullseye for use in my 45 ACP.
Reasons being - powder cheaper than HP-38/W231, uses less powder per round than the HP-38/W231, got a bunch of it, meters better than the Unique, can use the same 4 grains of the Bullseye for both 230 gr LRN and 200 gr LSWC.
Any downside to this thinking?

MW:
You said it, "got a bunch of it", so burn it up.
Me, at 7000 grains per pound, I spill more than than I'd save changing powders.
During the hoarding I bought 6# of HP38 at one time, to justify the Hazmat fee and will be burning that for a while.
'just happy to have a choice again,

Thanks. Could not really see a downside to this. I do know what you mean about choice too even though I haven't been reloading long at this time.

I founds some old hodgdon clays I abandoned after it wouldn't meter evenly out of my old lee powder measure. I recently upgraded to the lee pro auto disk and it meters beautifully. I just got back from shooting 100 rounds of 200 lswc with 4.6 g of bullseye and the same with 4.2 grains of clays. Recoil felt nearly the same and offhand groups at 15 yards were my usual approx. 3 inches. I can never tell a significant accuracy difference at 15 or 25 yards, rested or not. I don't remember what powder is cheaper and dont have a chronograph, nor do I have a ransom rest. I honestly don't worry about powder based on price. Powder is the cheapest variable, and even at extreme differences in powder used per bullet, I calculate a max of maybe 75 cents per 50.

Personally I like Bullseye...........I may not be the smartest guy around but I do know what I like and I like Bullseye. I don't use it exclusively nor am i bummed when I look for it and the LGS is out. But I normally have some on hand all the time and I use it often. I color my primers with a sharpie so i know what powder is in the bullet.....orange is Bullseye.

Same with me, I've shot up a few cans of Bullseye and usually have it on hand as well. Same with 2400 and Unique. It's a pretty universal powder that can be used in lots of stuff.
I've been using the W231 mostly lately, can't say it's any better or worse but it works. I got a 4# can waiting for me to pick it up so I hope it works. That's gonna last a long long time I think.

Bullseye is an almost univbersal pistol powder with lots of pressure tested data available for anything from 25ACP to 44 Magnum. Im use quite abit for loading 9mm. I have used it in 45 ACP but currently are using either VV N-310 in semi auto loads or Trail Boss in revolver loads. Bullseye provides low velocity variation and excellent accuracy in the loads I have tested.
