Dear Folks:
I'm new to this board and need advice on purchasing a "gently used" PM9. (I'm a police officer and want to upgrade my off duty carry from a snubby). Am I correct that getting a used PM9 is actually beneficial since it is already "broken-in"?? Or is it better to buy new for the warranty? Also, are their any gun sellers that have a stellar reputation and good prices that are highly recommended?

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

buy the cm9 new for alittle over $400. same gun as the pM9 internally. just a super buy and a super gun, it will serve u well.. if a gun is taken care of u can't tell how gentley used it was. My PM9 has 32,000 rounds through it and it looks new in all degrees. Not a wear spot on the gun, but I have taken good care of it, only I just shoot it like I stole it. A well broken in PM9 to me is a good way to go, BUT u also don't know alot about it eiter. U loose any warranty you mighty need and one trip back on ur dollar and u have bought the difference between a new and used gun. Now more than likely any PM9 used should be a good gun, if it isn't this forum can help u make it a good gun. I would also look at the serial number on the gun to see when it was made, that will give u some insight also on the gun.
There is a serial # history on this forum as well, as also on the glock talk forum under the kahr section. ( 9it is even more update to).
My feeling "today" if in doubt, certainly seek out the new cm9, u cannot go wrong with that gun, u just can't..

I agree with Jocko painfully. The CM would be an excellent choice.

As a lawman you qualify for special discounts from many sellers as well. Bud's has a law enforcement area now.

What part of the world are you in? I know of several west coast dealers that cater to LE.

The CM has a darn good reputation for a brand new model, not surprisingly really since it's basically a PM exact design lacking a few bells and whistles that will go unnoticed in most cases.

tylenol helps ease the pain, my friend and I am here to help as u know. U great thoughts have never "pained" me. now some have disgusted me but no tylenol is needed for disgusting, just a shot of ol Jim B.

bt at least greatmnds are running the same race today./ The CM9 is certainly the way to go and I never thought about the LEO prices either, but that is just shy of disgusting me to. so all is well.

When recommending the CM over the PM for cost savings, are there any long-term quality issues I would be sacrificing getting the CM? I have read that the barrel is different. Does that matter in the long term? I don't care about the superficial items but want something that will be a solid "lifelong" companion. Do you still recommend the CM?

I appreciate all of your knowledgeable responses. Thank you.

You give up nothing for the long term. The barrel is conventional rifled rather than polygonal, you'll never know. The rest is basically cosmetic, the slide isn't as rounded and shaped. The rollmarks are more basic. It's still a beautiful gun and it will last as long as anything else in the Kahr stable.
Given the option I'd personally go for the CM over the PM. Both great weapons and even if it was a gift I'd be totally happy with either one.
Many actually prefer the looks of the CW's and the CM's over the P's and PM's. If you got the extra couple hundred, look em both over. You get only 1 mag with the CM, 2 with the PM. Your LE discount will help with that also if you want extras.
What is your duty weapon?

a cop, unless ur carrying a glock, more than likely your barrel is just like that of the kahr cm9. The cm9 will last as long as ANY gun made, fearnot no one here would recommend this gun to yoiu due to only the cost savings, TRhe kahr cw line of guns has the same standard rifled barrel in them as the cm9 does, and no one complains about that barrel, as there is nothing to complain about, certainly have not readof any cw series kahr be that the 9 or 40 or 45 ever being shot to the point of calling it a junk gun.

If I did no thavbe a PM9 now, I would buy the cm9, knowing what I know abouot kahrs, there really is no real difference. Almost like to identicaL used cars on a log, one has a locking glove box and the other just a glove box. both meansw nothing as far as performance of the vehicle..

BUD'S seems to be the one place to obain and I would bet if u called them and talked to them about leo prces, u might just be surprised..

From Officer to Officer, get the CM9 and save your money! I just picked one up for my off duty/ back up. So far so good. I will say that the Kel tec PF9 is a little flatter to carry inside the pocket and a bit lighter. I have both guns so I figured I would throw you a quick comparison. What is your duty weapon?

I would bet u will find the cm9 a more pleasant gun to shoot than that kt due to its lower bore axis and the trigger systems don't compare either. Nothing againt the kt but it is IMO not in the same quality class as the cm9. Having owned 3 kt's in the past but never a PF-9

Check out thunder971?s PM9 for sale. Not sure where he is or where you are but it looks like a nice PM 9 with some extras.

No dog in this race and no commission that I'm aware of so just a take a look see.

I seen somewhere that Buds LEO price on the CM9 was like $385.

The only thing on the CM9 that doesn't really lend itself to lifetime hard use is the pinned poly front sight.
I will be putting Dawson tritium N.S. front sights on my CW and CM. They are $49, and easy to install they supply the tool to flare the pins no pusher needed.

daWSON makes a nice set up for the cw and cm kahrs. Glocks have the pinned front sight and basicaly give no issues. Kahrs have had very very few issues with their front sight. no doubt cheaper to do than dovetailing etc. I could live with it, especialy since dawson makes such a nice front sight. IK sure like their fiber optic sights for the cw and cm kahrs. Might not be a night sight but again as long as there is daylight of some sort the fiber optic does stand out. I like night sights but I also think that we put to much emphasis on night sights, but everyone seems to want them on their guns and probably that is the only reason I put mine on. I have yet to go out in total darkness and do any serious shooting, and now with the advent of good small high strobe lights, I can get buy OK with damn near anything on the front of my slide.

I have a set of dawson adjustable fiber opticv sights on my G19 and I personally think they are the finest sights I have ever used, let alone the outstanding quality of their sights to..
