View Full Version : Conservative alternative to AARP

I'm not giving any more money to the damn AARP and watch them support an anti-gun agenda and other librard B.S.
I've found an alternative organization for seniors, that shares my conservative views. Its the AMAC, Association of Mature American Citizens. You can check it them out at http://www.amac.us/
They don't have as many discounts yet as the AARP does, but they are off to a pretty good start. They do have discounts on insurance and healthcare items, and lodging and other things.
If you're tired of seeing the AARP spend your money on liberal crap, you might consider the AMAC. It's $15.00 a year. I'm not making money off of getting people to join or anything, I'm just happy to see an alternative to the AARP that has good solid conservative values and want to spread the word to other people over 50.

This. And then they had the gall to ask for, and receive, a waiver from the White House that exempts them from the same Obamacare plan that they were so instrumental in helping to pass.

Also underreported is that they stand to gain big-time financially from the insurance plans they push that cover the gaps from what the government plans leave off.

Hypocrites. They'll never get a penny of my money.

could AARP maybe mean AMERICAN ASSOCIATION of RETIRED PRI-KS??? I just moved my AARP card to the back hidden place in my wallet. I use it when checking in at a motel and I seem to get a 10% discount..

Most motels give a "SENIOR" discount anyhow. Military, AAA, or Senior are usually 10%. I bailed on the AARP after the Catastrophic Healthcare thingy where everyone would have had to pay into that in addition to whatever you already had. Boy, they were surprised that most people wanted nothing to do with that... so much so, that that is one of the few laws to be repealed almost immediately.

I still let them send me lots of offers for membership and stuff so they can waste their liberal money a bit.

I've always disliked GEICO, too, because they picked up and funded the Laser speed detectors when the company was going out of business. Their infusion of funds was used to send a unit to just about every police department in the country and now everyone uses the sneaky things. It's a good thing that they can't be used in moving vehicles and need aiming like a rifle.

Just another ramble and thread hijack... oh, yeah, scenting, too!

USAA is the best... always #1 or #2 in customer satisfaction and cost. It's open to anyone honorably discharged from military service now. The auto insurance used to be limited to just officers... then NCO's and enlisted.

We get money back when they don't have to pay so many claims. This looks like a bad year, though... all of the tornadoes and floods... and the hurricane season just started!

My aunt said to ask for the "best" rate on a room and often that will get you the lowest price. Sometimes they'll add a senior rate discount, most often not.
I have an old AARP card from when I was 50 that I flash sometimes if I they ask if I'm a member, they look at it, say thanks and I don't have to say nothing.
I thought it was cool that a bunch of people with good values and that supported the 2nd admendment got together and are taking on the AARP. I hope they kick their butt! I'm going to check out their medicare plans see if they have a good supplemental.

Your aunt is right. I'm usually covered by something... senior or Government... Military is government and my retired card works as a government ID.

AARP has always promoted liberal causes long before Obama arrived on the scene. I've avoided them for years for that very reason.

Glad to see I stirred up some interest. I was just happy to see an alternative to the AARP, that has values more in line with mine. Hopefully they'll get just as big or bigger than the AARP and offer as many discounts on things and get a good lobby effort going in Washington DC to lobby for conservatives. The only reason I ever joined the AARP was to get the discounts on motels and stuff.

Appreciate the heads up Thetmanski. AARP started their campaign to sign me up a month before I turned 50 this past April...I didn't even bother with it and after reading this thread, I'm glad I didnt. I'll check out the AMAC. Thanks.

THE LADY THAT WROTE THIS LETTER, NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF ‘THE SITUATION’ BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!

Her letter was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP. It only takes a few days on the Internet and this will have reached 75% of the public in the USA ..
Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. This isn't what you were looking for, but it's is the most honest response I can give you. Our coverage gap is a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith. While we have proudly maintained our membership for years and long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values. Your letter stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours.

Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP once gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama Regime and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there! We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities and values.

This Obama Regime scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist Mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities.

Your web site generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? The illegal perpetrators have broken into our 'house', invaded our home without invitation or consent. The President insists we keep these illegal perpetrators in comfort and learn the perpetrator's language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them. I DON'T choose to welcome them, to support them, to educate them, to medicate them, or to pay for their food or clothing. American home invaders get arrested. Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break and enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current Regime. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than ones that are driven by a need to yield AMNESTY (aka-make voters out of the foreign lawbreakers so they can vote to continue the governments free handouts). This addition of 10 to 20 million voters who then will vote to continue Socialism will OVERWHELM our votes to control the government's free handouts. It is a "slippery slope" we must not embark on!

As Margaret Thatcher (former Prime Minister of Great Britain) once said "Socialism is GREAT - UNTIL you run out of other people's money".

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you. I am disappointed as all get out! I am more scared than I have ever been in my entire life! I am ANGRY! I am MAD as heck, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

I've believed since the '70s that aarp was a totally left wing operation, then started getting their garbage mail about the time I turned 30. Now, at 60, I know for dang sure I won't let a single penny of my honest day's pay go to aarp - regardless of their "benefits". With 40 or so years of despising that bunch of self serving, left wing, me-me-me-me type "senior citizens", ain't NO way I would ever consider falling into their trap. I remember about 15-20 years ago there was another organization that was trying to get off the ground as a more "conservative" type organization, but I wasn't "of age" at the time and didn't join and forgot who they were.

I have been considering this new organization for several months.

If you haven't chosen AMAC over AARP yet, you may want to reconsider.
During the first Presidential debate, President Obama touted the support of AARP for ObamaCare several times. While AARP immediately responded by saying, "AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party", recently released emails between the White House and AARP operatives seem to indicate that AARP threw their tremendous lobbying power behind the legislation despite the fact they were getting calls overwhelmingly against it.
In fact, on September 20, 2012, Kimberley A. Strassel of the Wall Street Journal wrote:
"Thanks to just-released emails from the House Energy and Commerce Committee, we now know that AARP worked through 2009-2010 as an extension of a Democratic White House, toiling daily to pass a health bill that slashes $716 billion from Medicare, strips seniors of choice, and sets the stage for rationing. We know that despite AARP's awareness that its seniors overwhelmingly opposed the bill, the 'nonpartisan organization' chose to serve the president's agenda.
The 71 pages of emails show an AARP management taking orders from the White House, scripting the president's talking points, working to keep its board 'in line' and pledging a fealty to 'the cause.' Seniors deserve to know all this, as AARP seeks to present itself as neutral in this presidential election."
Join AMAC Today
AARP refuses to take a formal position on the Independent Payment Advisory Board ("rationing board") portion of ObamaCare and even defends some aspects of the board. Given the negative impact that the IPAB will have on seniors, this is unbelievable (but sadly, not unexpected).
AMAC is against the harsh provisions in ObamaCare that gives the Federal government complete control of our healthcare. It destroys the best healthcare system in the world, takes 716 billion dollars out of Medicare, and has the power to restrict and ration our medical treatment.
AMAC is fighting to keep our right to receive treatment from our doctors without the interference of Federal bureaucrats.
Big government experiments like the "stimulus" and ObamaCare have only increased the uncertainty and instability, and are core reasons for the persistently high unemployment rate and why the household incomes of Mature Americans have declined so much.
AMAC, The Association of Mature American Citizens, believes we can do much better. As a steadily growing alternative to groups like AARP, and with an expanding influence in the Nation's capital, we aim to champion the interests of Mature Americans, seniors, and prospective retirees. We believe in religious freedom, free enterprise, and support common sense solutions to our Nation's largest challenges.
Bottom line - Our livelihoods, our families' future prosperity and our standards of living should not be threatened by bad policies emanating from Washington, DC.
AMAC Fights for You!
