View Full Version : Glock Perfection

Just came back from experiencing some of that well known Glock perfection. Took my new G19 out and shot the first 150 rounds. Absolutely trouble free. My son went with me and he shot his G23, a .40 cal. pistol the same size as the G19. My only complaint is the difficulty I had getting the 14th and 15th rounds into the magazine. Really tough.
Anyway, the G19 is a great gun. Reliable and accurate though, I need to compare the G19 to the G26 for accuracy. My gut feeling is the G26 is more accurate, even though that makes no sense.

I have a female detective that consistantly shoots better with her G30 over her G21. Even had the grip reduced on the 21 for several officers. Sent them all to Robar for texture and several reductions.
Only thing I can figure is it just somehow fits her better.
Your right it don't make sense.

I wonder if it's a matter of frame flex and the shorter frame being less flexible? In any event, the G19 will keep all rounds where they matter.
Regarding the G30, years ago I read the G30 was probably Glock's most accurate pistol. I've alway wanted one...just can't afford to shoot one.

The G30 seems better balanced to me than the G21. Maybe I'll keep mine and have the grip reduced for when I start reloading.

A few years ago Ayoob wrote an article on short barrel pistols comparing Glocks.
He noted the shorter barrels have less flex than a longer barrel and shot almost the same size groups with a 3" vs. a 4" barrel.
I noted that this guy is a very accomplished pistol champion and wondered if that also played a part in the group sizes.

Melissa,I hope you realize we want detailed reports on what type of machine you get and how you are doing every step of the way.Once you get into it I believe you`ll love it.But keeping in line with the thread title,my Glocks, a 19 and a 36, are not perfect. They both have missed the bullseye several times each.So much for perfection.

To be honest, I had a few strays too. Overall though, the groups were solid and well centered.

Of course...I'll post everything about it. :)

The Glock 19 just does not fit my hand. The finger grooves are in the wrong places. I bought the 26 & put the Pearce extentions on my mags. It is very accurate & has never malfunctioned at all. It is my truck gun & I do not carry it. I find it to be too big for carry.

Okay, I have eleven active pistols and none of them has given a problem either. I guess I'll have to start a thread called S&W, Kahr, HK, SIG, STI, Ruger, and Springfield perfection or do I have to use a different thread for each manufacturer. ;)
I have a G30 w/XS Big Dot night sights and a 3.5lbs trigger connector. This is my sidearm for SHTF and HD. If trouble ever comes this is the pistol at my side. I also have a G19 and it is my favorite pistol for shooting :) I believe in only having guns with "purpose". The G19 I have now, I have no real use for, its a "luxury" gun that I keep simply because I like it.
Okay...to ease that voice telling me to not keep guns I don't need, I have convinced myself the Glock 19 is my "do everything" gun ;) It truth the G19 really is a do everything gun...It is carry/conceal-able if needed, rock-solid reliable with excellent firepower for HD/SHTF, accurate and comfortable for competitive shooting and being a 9mm, its fairly a inexpensive range shooting and plinking...

My Glocks are not perfect at all.
I have to constantly stuff rounds in the magazines while they're sitting there looking ugly and hungary and they then gobble up everything I put in them and only make a loud noise and spit out empties (that I then have to reload).
And they certainly don't hit the black dot on the paper plate every time either.
They also don't have magazine disconnect safeties. ;)
How can that be called perfection?
Could you call it boredom instead?
Try feeding 5 of them; It's enough to dent anyone's budget.
Costs more than feeding my old dog.
Maybe this problem should have been referred to *Dear Dietrich*...
Certainly no perfection. As of yesterday, I spoke with my very old pal in Tampa - his Glock 21 shed its left rear frame rail, and bend the slide rail in the process. Was talking to him about the rail on my PM45 getting mangled. He got a new Glock, technically "replaced the receiver", but it as a new gun as the slide was fubar, and it had a new barrel, spare mag, case etc. That was two years ago, but I'd not talked to him in a while.
In the late 70's...all through the 80's, Colt was making some sorry sorry pistols and revolvers. They've cleaned up the act. From early 70's to almost 1990, Gibson was making some sorry sorry guitars, but they cleaned up their act (for a while, they're sucking again). Same with Fender guitars, except their quality seems to have stayed put.
The company I work for, used to be king of the hill of quality in our field. For the last four years we cant do a thing right. First, they got in young blood bean counters, who convinced them to move from California production, to Juarez Mexico. Then the young hire engineers decided they knew how to build products better than we already did, and re-introduced a whole gamut of problems that had been old settled engineering. Then violence in Mexico made it such that the engineers cant even visit the production facility - company policy.
What I'm saying is - things go full circle, endlessly it seems.

They really do, whether you're talking cars, guns or pork'n beans the new and improved versions are, for the most part, total failures in many respects.

I shoot my subcompacts better than my full sized pistols... to include my duty pistol. I think we all subconsciously focus more on the fundamentals of marksmanship when we are shooting the smaller guns and they are easier to control because there isn't enough room to constantly change your grip.
