View Full Version : Where are all the CM9's?

I live in MI and I've talked to just about every gun shop in the area (South East) and nobody has one. Most haven't even heard of it and those who have can't find any available so they can't even give me a price. Where are they? I prefer FTF transactions and avoid all the premium shipping and insurance costs.
Next, I have no experience with Kahr guns but I've decided I want to buy a CM9. I have a question that most of you will think is silly, but that's OK, I've got thick skin.:D Is it reasonable to assume that the majority of parts in the CM9 come from the PM9? I do know that the CM9 has a MIM slide stop pin but don't know of other changes so does anyone have a quick summary they could share? I just don't want to buy a newly designed gun with no field experience.

iT IS NOT A NEWLY DESIGNED GUN. EVERY CW SERIES KAHR MADE HAS AN mim SLIDE STOP. NOT an internal part different than the PM9 series. the lower grip section is identical. The reason u can't find one is they sell as fast as they get in. The cm9 is a PM9 only with not allthe bells and whistles on it. To date we have no thad one cm9 with any issues that one didn't fix in house, U won't find a better gun, u might have to go on line to get one though.

We have more issues with forged kahr slide stops over all the cw MIM slide stops.

jocko,
Thanks for the info and it leads me to my next question. Let's say I have to give in and buy one on line and it's used. How good is Kahr's warranty in the event there's something fundamentally wrong with the gun?
Thanks.

Well, not to sound like too much of a smartass (really not my goal here), good luck finding a used one of those. As you can see, they are flying off the shelves, and being so new and so great (yes a little sarcasm there) people are not going to give them up easily or quickly. The other part of that is Kahr warranties for the first owner of the for five years. You may get lucky and find one that has not been registered, but those I think would be even more rare than a used CM9. If it is a genuine manufactures' defect, I suspect Kahr would take care of you. I can't say for sure having never even registered my two. Then again, they have both been flawless OTB (even my used P45). That's the way I read things.

I am sure as new as the cm9 is that any warranty, kahr willnot question if u are thye first owner. they don'tneed to knw u bought it used. buy new, the price is terrific. Have not seen a used cm9 as of now.Buds' seems to hav ethe best supply and price, Beardog is on top of that to.

Here's one ;)

Like everyone said, keep an eye on Bud's. They get them in every few days and they sell out fast.
I love mine. It has pinned front sights, simple engraving, blockier slide, and that's about it as far as differences in the PM9. I think you will be pleased with it.
DO THE 200 BREAK IN for sure.

it looks blockier compared to the pM9 but is identical in design as all the cw series kahrs, more than likely actual slide measurments (length, width) are the same as the pM9 ) I think in time as more and more sight makers get into the kahr lines with their sights, that one will find the kahr pinned sight a plus in installing etc, over trying to install with the dove tailed kahr sights, which most have found is a real bit-h to remove and install.

They say the dawson front sight is awesome and comes with their own designed installation staking tool. From all I have read on this forum Buds is the way to go,not sure one can't even contact them and put up alittle doe-rae-me and get in the front of the line. In the meantime line up a ffl dealer to work with..Unlike alot of new designed guns this gunneeds no introduction. IT IS A PM with no bells and whistles and it will work just as good out of the box as the PM does now..

I was searching for one as well. I was stalking Budsgunshop, and it went to "in stock" at some point in the afternoon on Wednesday. I immediately snatched one up as quickly as I could. Later that night, it was out of stock again, and is still out of stock as of now. Just a few hours of availability!

If your local stores can't get one for you, try online, but stock is still rare. You'll have to keep looking and jump on one when it comes in stock.

Free shipping, but you'll have to find an FFL in your area willing to receive for a decent price. Use the FFL tool on the Bud's site to find a preferred dealer.

Good luck, I know how frustrating not finding your desired gun in stock can be.

Also, don't bother with the "notify me" on Bud's. They won't notify you.

Vietvet68...you might try GT Distributors. I know they had some on order for stock but they don't show on their web site...just give them a call. Very nice and accomodating. That's where I got my pm9...great prices. I got my cm9 online at Village Pawn and Gun Shop (http://www.villagepawnandgunshop.com/). They had them in stock, great price (410.00 + shipping), shipped quickly...great to deal with.

It took me a while to find one. I live in Gig Harbor, Wa. and I did the same as you called all the dealers and gun shops in the area and could not find one anywhere. Called a shop about 45 miles from me when I was working in the area they said they didn't have one but if i gave them my number they would see what they could do. I gave it to them and thought yeah like I will hear back from them. A week later I get a call that they got one in and they were holding it for me! I about flipped. Needless to say I was there the next day to pick it up. So if anyone in western Washington (Tacoma Seattle Bellevue area) is looking for a gun I highly recommend checking out West Coast Armory! They took care of me when I figured nothing would come of it. Great guys great service huge thumbs up!
Just keep at it you will find one. They are new so they will be hard to find but well worth it. Took mine to the range for the 1st time today and I love it!

I had no luck here in the portland oregon area either until I went to the gun show. I would attend your next gun show, most likely will find one there.

My LGS always has two or three in stock although he's been selling a bunch of them. The last time I checked his price is $429. Since I already have a PM9, I'm looking forward to the CM40 and CM45, especially the 45.

I've bought literally dozens of guns and I've never registered one of them. The only pistol I've ever sent back to Kahr was my, bought used, PM45. [I told them it was used] It was for a cosmetic repair, not a functional one, but they never questioned the warranty work and practically refurbished the pistol before returning it in five days. I will say that this happened while Ian was still there.

I didn't see any at our local gun show yesterday, but I did get there around 3PM or so with closing at 5PM. I don't need one but I purposefully looked for the CM9 just for a report on availability.

I DID see and hold a Ruger SR1911. Our largest local dealer had several of those left and I don't know what they started with or how many were left besides the two or three on the table.

Ruger is going to be filling orders for a long time before offering many "options".

I went to the range afterwards and shot defense ammo and S&B FMJ in my EDC... my P380N. I'll post a report with flash/recoil comparisons later today, hopefully... after Wifey leaves for work.

I just checked with Buds and of course they are out of stock but I requested they notify me when they come back into stock. Hopefully I'll be at home when the email comes in.
Thanks

As of the time of this posting, the CM9 is back in stock at Bud's:

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/76031

The price seems to have increased to $430.

I was looking for a couple of months and finally came accross one at a local gun show. I snatched it up for $430 and love it. I knew exactly what I was getting since I also owned a cw9. BTW after cleaning, oiling, and racking the slide 100 or so times, it performed perfectly my first time out, although not quite as accurate as my cm9. I did however have an issue with premature slide lockback using a seven round mag from my cw9. I wiped down the inside of the mag and mag spring and had no more problems.

I think that Kahrs line up of compact 9MM handguns are feeding the wants of many people. Congrats to them for listening to their customers.

BTW, they did send an email notice telling me they had them back in stock at Buds.

vet68. I agree, they have covered most bases, certainly one should be able to find the kahr of their choice and price.. I don't kow of to many companies that offer such a variety.

I some times wonder and think even, is kahr going to try to enter the wheel gun market???
