Well, I am now a first time Kahr owner. Had recently posted on which to get, and after reading lots on this forum and all, I got the CM9. I have read the thread on lub and prep and have done all that, too many things going on to shoot much, but did go out in back yard and shoot 10 rounds just to shoot it, 6 was factory RN, and had to shoot 4 RN reloads just to see, and no problem at all, Saturday will be able to get out back and run couple hundred rounds through it. One reason I went with the CM9 was because of reloading, someone on this forum and my gunshop said no no on shooting lead in the PM9 barrel, and was 200.00 cheaper, so will get a Crossbreed for this, probably a mini tuck, not sure yet, and will have to check with Dawson on some sights, had also read here on changing using Dawson sights, and couple extra mags. Gunshop did throw in an extra mag for me. Does everyone use the Kahr mags? Any suggestion on the sights, etc, feel free to comment. Thanks for all the info I have received.

I think you made a good choice. No issues with lead reloads and a darn nice gun.

If you want reliable stick with the factory Kahr mags. You can find them on line all over the place. Shop for the lowest price.

Dawson makes really good stuff and they are good to work with. I'm not sure exactly what the options are specifically for the PM/CM but they are reall good at answering concerns and giving you whatever options they have.

No lead in PM9 barrels? Wha?

It's not recommended to shoot lead thru a polygonal barrel. Many do it without issue but it's not recommended. I've heard it was some sort of pressure issue rather than a leading issue but could be a combination.
Glock also discourages use of lead in their barrels for the same reason.

I am new to Kahr, but was told the PM9 has a polygonal rifling, and it's not recommended to shoot lead in polygonal barrels, and if you reload, this was a real factor. My local gun shop also told me the same thing about the polygonal barrel.

Best of luck with your new CM9.

I have 100s of reloads through my Glock 26 and will also use them in my PM9. Both have polygonal rifling. Oh, the reloads that my brother puts together for me use jacketed bullets (Barnes, I think). You don't have to reload with hard cast to still save money over factory ammo.

I would guess that plated bullets would work if not pushed to fast and provide a savings close to that of using HC bullets. Anyone know about plated bullets being OK to use in polygonal barrels?

From what I've heard, plated is fine at any reasonable velocity. They're nearly twice the price of hard cast, though, so not much cheaper than jacketed. They used to be closer in price to the HC, but not any more.

I've shot lots of plated bullets thru my polygonal barrels. I recently went to jacketed bullets from Precision Delta for nearly the same price as the plated. Not as cheap as lead but very reasonable and I like em better anyhow.

I've got a bad taste in my mouth more than once from trying to use after market mags on various guns.
Now I just stick with factory.
I just ordered 2 8 rd mags from CTD for my CM9 at a good price.

FWIW, my Promag feeds as well or better than my stock (no nose-dives). Go figure.

Yup, and I had some Chip McCormick 8 rd mags that worked as well as Colt 7 rd mags.
There are exceptions to everything it seems. .. :o
