I love Sigs and have two of them (P220/P239).
The all steel guns are great.
That said I've heard bad things about their attempt to go plastic (P250).
Rumors of LE departments getting, and then canceling, contracts for them.
IMHO - Go for a flavor of P220 for a 45 and you can't go wrong.
The P250 is not their first plastic design. Its at least their third.
They've made a few basic models on two double action only designs in 9mm and 40S&W.
The Sig P250 gets either great, or lousy reviews. Sound familiar? Hehehe... its the shooters way it seems.
The P250 has the same basic frame for 9mm, 357sig, 40S&W and 45ACP. Given that, they could concievably do 10mm as well.
Its DA only. You can "switch configurations" including slides, barrels, caliber, grip size and grip length.
Thats mis-leading, as also is their ads (sometimes). They lead you to believe its all mix-n-match. Its not. Obviously things must stay within their caliber group. Also, slide length is tied to grip length (and magazine capacity). So in any caliber, you have a choice of three slide-length/grip-length and also have a choice in each of those if three grip sizes - small, medium and large, which vary by both depth and circumference.
The exception is 45auto, which is only available in full size and compact... no sub-compact, and don't hold your breath for it. Its been years, and still no 45 subC. Some CS folks at Sig say - never gonna be one. Some Sig reps say - never gonna be one. A few Sig reps say... soon, they're working on materials and tweaks. There have been some sightings at shows, but thats all. Nobody reports owning or firing one.
If the Sub Compact 45 was out, I'd have gotten one instead of Kahr. I'm glad I got Kahr, as its actually a better gun, in my opinion. The only thing the Sig has is double strike capability. Its not as accurate, bigger, heavier, and bulkier. It might be great for PD's that may want to issue one frame, but give individual officers a choice, or put some officers out with 45s for special ops, while beat cops get 9's..... or whatever, I'm just giving scenarios. If you live in a place that has restrictions on gun ownership - that might be good too, as you can have 9/357/40/45. Sub Compact 9, mid size 40, full size 45... etc. If that sort of thing doesn't do much for you, and you dont mind the extra $$$ the Kahr is a better gun. I borrowed, and fired the compact P250 in 40cal... it went bang when I pulled the trigger. Its a good duty gun.

it just looks so much bigger than a PM9, am I dreaming or what. I realy don't care about the barrel switching stuffj. That to me is alot of add hype more than practicality. It is still only gonna be one gun at a time.
Yup, Yup, and Yup.
They're very bulky.

When my favorite boy toy store got the first of the P250's in stock, my ffl buddy called me about 8:00 pm one night to come to the shop and check it out. First thing he wanted to do was switch the fire control mechanism (frame) from the full sized grip to the compact grip. It's been a couple of years so I'm not really sure, but I think it was the trigger bar spring that tended to get in an awful bind when making the swap. Let's just say he had to order a new spring when it was all done. Seeing the internals on the P250, and the $650+ price tag on the early releases made me think that even the Sigma 9VE would have been as good a purchase. And that's coming from a Sig fan. Like every other manufacturer, Sig should stick to what they do best. Even though I recently had a "weak moment" and considered trying to trade my 100% perfect P239 .40 cal even for a CM9, I got over it. I'll stick to the all metal offerings....someone else can have my share of the tupperware. (and that's coming from a Kahr CW9 fan:confused:)

ETA: the CM9 is still on my must have list... tupperware or not:D

Ditto: I bought a H&K USP 45 compact.
Compact my _(*(_(*^!
(sold it)
Sig forum has a thread about a million miles long on the P250
There are a lot of "triple serial number, made in W.Germany" Sig snobs there. If its not a traditional descendant of the original P220 design, they poo-pooh it.
Its not a bad gun, just hold it in your hand before plunking down the $$$.
FWIW, I'm seriously considering selling my P220 in favor of something bigger, like an FNP-45.
Why?
Because if I'm gonna carry and/or use a big gun, size is not an option, and I might as well go for the firepower.
Yah I got one of those triple number W.German guns... big deal.

SIG can do polymer guns. I had a 2022 in 9mm, and it was a very good pistol, as good as the classic P guns, and I've had quite a few. I ended up selling it when I moved to 45. I've looked at the P250 45, and would have one now if it had the DA/SA trigger. I just don't like most DAO guns.

Personally, I wouldn't trade my P220 for an FNP. The SIG is a great shooter and my 1996 build is just like a new gun since it went through the SIG refurb last summer. The only pistols that I think come close are my HK's. And yes, mine is a triple digit German gun as was my 2022.
They are great guns, I just never shoot it.
I dunno... its not a pressing thing. If the situation comes around, so be it, if not, its not a problem either.
The other thing about the P250 - cheap!

FWIW: I own both a Kahr PM9 and a P250 9SC. I fire both at the range and like how both feel - similar trigger pulls. With WWB 115 FMJ in both i get similar shot patterns at 10 yards.
I purchased the Kahr first and the P250 about three weeks later. I have about five hundred rounds through both with only one FTF and one FTE, FTE in the Kahr and FTE in the Sig.
I have carried both; although I don't carry all the time.
I have a partiality towards the Kahr, but I don't have any scientific or specific reason for that partiality.
I like both, and plan to keep both; and am considering adding a S&W M&P 9C to the family.
Kindest Regards,
Moon

At first I thought you stole my icon. :D I wonder if the trigger on the P250 45 is different than the 9mm. The 45 I looked at had a harder pull than any of my Kahrs.
You won't regret the M&P. I had a compact 45 stolen in February, and replaced it with a compact 40, [same size as the 9] because it was so much smaller and lighter than the 45. The shorter barrelled 40 is just as accurate as the 45, and easier to carry. So far, not one hiccup.

I posted a question on the S&W forum concerning the M&P compact .45.A lot of the guys who responded only wanted to talk about how much they liked their Glock.Go figure. I have found over the past few days that if you ask a question on most gun forums you`ll come away more confused than when you started. GlockTalk isn`t the only forum filled with bitter, misinformed fanatics. There are some negative people out there folks.I`m gonna go to the gunshow this weekend and if I find a compact .45 I like,I`m gonna buy it.If it falls apart in my hand then so be it.Sheesh!!

I truely plan to own a M&P 45 Compact one day. I have no idea why but I want one and I will have one.
I wish you good luck on your quest. Didn't you just have a gun show like last weekend? How many shows you got back there, must be brutal all that temptation so frequently. Like living next door to a girly bar, who needs it ya know?

Yeah, there was a gun show last weekend in New Bern,NC but it is one of the really small ones and I didn`t attend. The show this coming weekend is in Raleigh at the state fairgrounds. It`s not the biggest show that comes there but it is a fairly good sized one.Usually a nice selection of reloading supplies along with reputable firearms dealers from across the state. If you know your stuff, you can still run across a deal or two.I`ll shop on Saturday and perhaps haggle a bit.If I don`t get the price I want I`ll come back late Sunday afternoon and see if the vendor really would rather pack the merchandise back up and haul it home or if he [or she] is more open to a deal.I`ll have fun either way.I`ll be on my own, 170 miles from home for two nights in the Holiday Inn and neck deep in firearms and accessories.Life is good.

Thats a far piece to get to a gunshow. Your plan is sound though. Our local show, fairly good size but usually same stuff month after month is 15 minutes from home and 5 minutes from work, so I don't get any Holiday Inn time.
We have a much much larger show about an hour or so south that I rarely get too but if you can't find what your looking for there you don't need what your looking for that bad.
I'd dig checking out your gunshow as your wing man, I bet we'd have a heck of a good time.

I just got a P250 9FS last week and so far I really like it. I have a CW9 which is my CCW and I got the P250 for a range gun. I was originally debating between a G17/G19 vs the P250 for a range gun but when I saw the price at my local outdoor store I couldn't pass it up - only $369 out the door vs $500+ for a Glock Gen4. And Siglite night sights come standard :D
I have small girl hands so the interchangeable trigger and grip size really appealed to me. I have the FS model so I can't really compare accuracy, the barrel is almost 1" longer than on my Kahr. I was able to make some nice 2"-3" groups out of the box, but you do have to get used to the "combat" sights. I do like the DAO trigger though, little tiny bit heavier than the CW9 but still nice and smooth. The slide is easy to rack and I feel very little recoil, although that probably has more to do with the weight of the FS model, also I love Sigs easy takedown (no trigger pull necessary).
I've heard a lot of complaints about the DAO trigger, but I'm used to shooting DAO guns so I don't have much experience with a SA/DA trigger.
