View Full Version : Whats with 40cal ammo at Wally World?
I went to Wally World tonite to continue my hoarding of 45acp ammo, and holy crap, they just keep filling the shelves with 40S&W. They had at least 20 boxes of 100rds of WWB, plus Federal, plus Remington... easily 5000rds on the shelf. I saw about 3500 rounds or so of 9mm, not a 45acp to be had. They usually keep a little less 9mm, but they must be getting allocations of ammo, and the 40 isn't moving for them. Weird.

Mine's been that way for quite a while. Dunno why.

Yep! Even on-line there seem to be good bargains in .40 S&W, especially for JHP, compared to 9mm. I like it! :D

Perhaps the .40 S&W guys have finally got their fill. As a .40 aficionado, used to drive me crazy as I buy a bit in advance, shoot regularly and keep a very modest supply. Falling into the stories of Mr. XYZ is coming going to get your guns, Y2K, end of the world.
I liked it better when normal gun fanatics used to buy, not horde ammo.
Our Wally has plenty of everything, lots of 9mm, but no .380 right now. go figure.

Where? On-line runs from $150 to $185 delivered for 500 rounds of Winchester Ranger JHP. That's cheap enough that I don't bother with FMJ. ;)

Yeah, at that price, you'd have to get a pretty good deal to go with FMJ, but those deals are out there. I just got 500 WWB for $100 shipped off of Gunbroker.

During the ammo crunch, 40 used to be the only thing that was sometimes available at my local wally world. Now, same as you - a ridiculous number of boxes all the time, ha.

I can never find any 45 either. I did an inventory yesterday of my ammo and I have 1300+ rounds of 9mm, 1700+ of 45, 250 of 380, and 850+ of 40. This is split about 40%-60% ball and HP. I only have one 9mm and one 380 among my active pistols, and three 40's and seven 45's. I ordered another 500 rounds of Ranger HP in 40 last night.
