Yes. I bought qwiktim's New Custom Kahr CM9 - Professionally Polished (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7091). Tim took some really great pictures, and he sent me some more when I requested them. I have arranged them in a photobucket slide show (http://s1230.photobucket.com/user/John_England/slideshow/My%20Custom%20CM9?sort=6) Enjoy! :D

WOW!!!!

It looks phenomenal! It certainly worth the money.

Was the barrel and ramp polished too?!

Wow! That is sweet! I may have to try at least a little smoothing on mine. But "professionally polished"? Not in my lifetime, maybe "no longer flat looking".

Yes. The barrel and ramp are polished to a mirror finish. It was worth it to me because it is everything that I wanted in my daily CC companion.

Interestingly, what looks like bright yellow paint on the sights in a couple of the pictures is a photographic or lighting anomaly. The sights are the original white on the gun. Tim is still puzzled about how they could look so brilliantly yellow in those photos!

I told Tim that I remembered seeing a product like that on the web: bright colored light activated luminescent paint in various colors that can be applied to gun sights. He liked the idea. So, I started looking in my Favorites list and found the website: http://www.brightsights.com/index.shtml. They also have free downloadable targets here: http://www.brightsights.com/targets.shtml. Check it out. :33:

There is a Cylinder & Slide Custom CW9 on Gunbroker for $1299. Been there for a long time. No one will touch it at that price. Just a #2 Package. Mine is prettier! :001_tt2:

Yeah. Looks like they can do the mirror finish. Looks expensive, though. I don't know where mine was polished, or how much it cost. I do know I got a good deal!

LOL! I love their tips for care of polished guns, first 2 rules:

Tip 1 DO NOT USE YOUR T-SHIRT TO WIPE YOUR POLISHED PART!

Tip 2 SEE TIP #1 , READ IT AGAIN. :D

Wow. I thought a T-shirt would be one of the softest cloths I could use. But Tip 3 says what to use:

Tip 3 Use only SUPER SOFT Flannel clothes to wipe and polish your part. Using a T-shirt will scratch your finely polished surface. It would be like taking steel wool to your car's paint job.

Only use your underwear. No one wears scratchy underwear (at least not more than once :001_tt2:)

I like the looks of the polished CM9 a lot. I would like to do mine the same way. How do you think the shine should hold up to holster wear? Even if it showed a little wear I would think that a some metal polish would fix it right up. I mean stainless is harder than leather anyway, right?

JFootin

Well, if even a T-shirt will scratch it up, I think it is going to take some care. They have a lot of good advice here: http://www.customizedcreationz.com/services/polishing.html.

Holster wear could become an issue. One thing is to use open muzzle holsters, because dirt and grit could build up inside a closed holster. I am looking at two holsters lined with finished leather on the inside. The first is a really nice Leather Lined Open Top Belt Holster (http://www.taguagunleather.com/new/open-top-leather-belt-holster-p21) from Tagua that is priced at about half what some holster makers charge just for a leather lined option. I think it is one of the very best holster values out there. The other is a Tuckable Reversed IWB Holster (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Alter_Ego/alter_ego.html) from High Noon Holsters, one of the most impressive holster makers that I have discovered. It is pricey, but really impressive. Both of these manufacturers have several interesting designs.

I think I am going to get some Blue Magic Metal Polishing Cream (http://www.buyhardwaresupplies.com/?t=5&m=g1&itemNumber=8110769) to take care of any damage that appears.

I am no longer using a T-shirt on it. I am using my silicone impregnated flannel cloth all over the gun. It even makes the polymer frame and the Qwik-Grip rubber grip sleeve look better. And I am using a soft cotton hand towel some, too.

Who made that holster?

JFootin
02-06-2012, 11:43 AM
The one in the slideshow? It is the Tagua Open Top Lined Belt Holster (http://www.taguagunleather.com/new/open-top-leather-belt-holster-p21). I know, it doesn't look like the same holster as pictured with a 1911 on ther website. Not only so, but I ordered it to fit a PM9 and apparently they think a holster made to fit a PM45 is fine for a PM/CM9. It was so loose the gun would fall out of it if tipped over. I sold it to a member with a PM45 and it fits his gun perfectly. This, and other similar sizing issues, is what has turned me against large holster makers. They make compromises to simplify their inventory, designating one model holster to fit a collection of guns - sort of! That is why I now like to deal with the one man show home businesses who make holsters one at a time to order, that will fit my gun exactly. And if they don't have a pattern gun for it, they'll tell me they can't make it.

Who made that holster?

Here is a holster just about like that, but I think you can get it to fit correctly. The Bonneville:

Nice looking holster! What I liked about mine was the high ride and how concealable it was.

I see you have a Jams dean
And a Pjholster witch do you ware the most what is the pros/cons of both. I have spent a lot of time looking at holsters I love the look of leather. But the Kydex seam thinner smaller easy to reholster. As of now I have a Rpollard witch is lick a crossbreed very cofterable but a pain to get on and of and it's a rig not a holster. Now looking at pj but love leather. What to do!! Any help you have would be great.

JFootin
02-07-2012, 09:54 AM
Well, both the JD and the PJ are good choices and I'd say get both! :D They each have their special attributes.

The PJ is as thin as it gets and, with the CM9, it just seems to become part of your body and disappear. Comfortable all day long. And very concealable because of the thinness and how close it sits to your body. I prefer the over the belt clip on the PJ. It can be had tuckable, which adds a little to the thickness.

The JD is nothing short of a work of art in leather! There just aren't words to describe how beautiful the workmanship is on this holster: hand stitched with not a thread out of place, finest Herman Oak leather, perfectly sized and shaped and molded to the gun, deep shiny finish and the most perfectly molded and finished edges I have ever seen. And when you see the price of it delivered to your door, you will just keep on smiling as you behold and handle it! I consider it an extraordinary opportunity to know one of the most talented holster makers ever to come along early in his career before his holsters become very expensive and you have to wait 6 months to get one. And, of course, to add some of his masterpieces to your collection! :)

Edit: I am now wearing my JD holster all day every day. It is winter, so I can easily cover it with a coat or jacket. And around the house it is so comfortable. There is just something about a fine leather holster. It becomes a part of you, like your favorite belt, wallet or knife.

Edit2: Not only so, but I feel good about myself because I have demonstrated such good taste in my gun and holster choices! :D

The first link is no good because the forum censored a word in it. You can fix it by hiding the link behind some text, like this:

I carry my CM9. When I am carrying it, it is concealed. So the shininess doesn't attract any attention. And it shoots as smooth as it looks! :D

Thanks guys! I apreciate the feedback regardless of view.

I will say; I've never left anything "stock" per se, I have this incatiable need to make "mine better" (the beauty/performance is in the eye of the beholder)

I was more sharing for the sights than anything. Again, I'm glad to see feedback. Too many a fora are lacking in replies to the new guys.

I've been shopping heavily for the right deal on a CM9 as I feel it's the best mix of all side arms I've owned, and frankly think it's already a handsome piece "stock"..

JFootin
03-04-2013, 03:00 PM
I bought it like that, but I think it would cost $250 - 300 to get everything mirror polished like that. I got lucky! :D

This was done using gradually finer grades of sandpaper and then polishing compound like Flitz to finish it off. Some have said that Mother's Wheel polish and a lot of time could achieve the same thing.

New member here and for my first post I thought I'd share some pics of my polished PM9. I purchased it, used, with a few minor handling marks from the previous owner - nothing serious, just the usual scuffs and such from being carried. I sanded it with 1500 grit paper, then 2000 grit, then hit it with Mother's Mag Polish. I'm happy with the results.

Forgot to mention, this isn't my first Kahr. I also own a P380 that has been a great CCW, especially in the summer when I want to carry in shorts and a t-shirt. I think I'm bit by the Kahr bug. I find myself searching for a MK9, now. :w00t:

Your gun is gorgeous, girvin02! :D

Back around 06 or 07, Kahr slightly extended and machined the front of the slide on the PM9. Yours is the older style with a more blunt nose. Jocko's beloved PM9 is a blunt nose, so he claims they are better. With more than 32,000 rounds thru his, it's kinda hard to disagree! :D

Actually, the SS is very hard, so it doesn't scratch easily. An occasional rub down with Flitz gun polish is all that's needed.
