Just picked up a CM9 yesterday, it will be my CCW. I've never carried before, so I need some help in what kind holster to choose. I wear t shirts and either jeans or cargo shorts. My jeans aren't baggy so I doubt pocket carry would work, so think IWB is the best choice? I also want something comfortable and is their one that wont put holster wear marks on the gun?

Unfortunately, all holsters will wear on the gun over time. I'm looking to try a Garrett Industries Silent Thunder Slim soon. There have been nothing but good reports on this site about these. http://garrettindustries.mybigcommerce.com/products/Silent-Thunder-Slim-II.html

You dress like me, and I carry in a Crossbreed MiniTuck. Here's some pics I took a while ago, although I now carry w/ two of the standard belt clips and adjusted it to ride just a little higher so I can get a quicker grip without sacrificing concealability.

You can even tuck it in:

My jeans aren't baggy and I've carried in the pocket for years with a DeSantis Nemesis, try the UNLOADED gun in your front right pocket first...to see if the fit is reasonable, may or may not.

I have a Milt Sparks Watch Six for IWB carry, which is sweet, but I seldom carry the PM9 that way, I usually go 1911 for hip carry.

I have a Crossbreed MiniTuck coming for my CM9. Until then an Uncle Mike's #3 pocket from Academy for right front pocket. But I don't really like that very much, personally, but it will do for another week. IWB will work better for me at work and 90% of the time.

I have 3 holsters for my CM9's... (all photos via google, they aren't mine!)

1 Remora

1 CTAC (this image is from the forum, it's the one I bought, but not my pic)

1 Grandfather Oak Hidden Companion

Out of the 3, I like the Grandfather Oak the best. It is a very minimalist holster. It conceals well (even in t-shirt and shorts), is comfortable, and affordable.

I picked up 2 of the 3 used from this forum. I would definitely look around and see if there are any that strike your fancy in the for sale section. You can save a ton of money that way!

The Remora is great because you can slip into a pair of pants or shorts with only a drawstring. It really does stay put, and can be used in a pinch as a pocket holster.

The CTAC is great because it is tuckable. I have 3 holsters that fill 3 different needs. Luckily I haven't been saddled with a stinker yet!

Here's a link to pics of my Silent Thunder by Garrett Industries. It's leather lined, nicely made and very comfortable.

I am looking seriously at the Alter Ego Tuckable Reversed IWB Holster (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Alter_Ego/alter_ego.html) by High Noon Holsters (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/index.html) for my Custom Polished CM9 (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7334). I am very impressed with High Noon. I like this holster because it is strait drop, meaning you can carry it in a wide range of positions around your waist. If you like FBI cant, look at the Closing Argument (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Closing_Argument/closing_argument.html), which carries strong side near your hip. If these are a little too pricey for you, look at the Centerfold (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Centerfold/centerfold.html), the Split Decision (http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7334), or go even cheaper with the new DeSantis SOF-TUCK (http://www.desantisholster.com/store/SEARCH-BY-HOLSTER-OR-ACCESSORY/INSIDE-THE-WAIST-BAND-HOLSTERS/sof-tucktm/kahr/pm9), which you can pick up for about $20—really a nice tuckable holster with adjustable cant. For OWB, I like the Tagua Fully Lined Open Top Belt Holster (http://www.taguagunleather.com/new/open-top-leather-belt-holster-p21) (lined with smooth finished leather to protect the finish on my polished gun). Shoot, the holster is priced at about HALF what some holster makers charge just for a lined OPTION! Its the best holster deal out there, PERIOD!

As a new PM9 owner over a year ago, I fretted for some time over which holster to buy. I'm not in a position to buy multiple holsters and had to get it right the first time, so I decided on my requirements for it.

First of all, I would have to want to carry it, so it had to be comfortable. It had to be a grab-and-go design so a quick trip to the store would include the gun. It had to conceal well. It had to protect the gun finish, even tho I was assured all holsters will show some wear on the gun over time. And I had to afford it.

I looked at holsters on several forums and found everybody has their favorites, but also found such phrases as "guns are supposed to show wear", "it gives them character." Such phrases were almost always associated with Kydex shells. Other phrases were "gotta have leather if you want to preserve the finish" talking about their expensive leather holsters.

Then there were Silent Thunder posts that extolled the soft leather lining that protects the finish, the single belt clip and how quick and easy it was to put inside the waistband, how comfortable it was to carry with statements like "I forget I'm carrying." Also the way the company really cared about how you liked the product and stood behind it.

Finally a holster that met all my requirements. It went on sale and I bought it. It has been a delight to use and I talk it up because it worked so well for me and wanted others to have my experience to buy with confidence. Also, Garrett is confident also. if you aren't happy with it for any reason they will refund your money or exchange it.

Another Silent Thunder owner who helped convince me took these pictures in My ST Slideshow (http://s762.photobucket.com/albums/xx269/OldLincoln/Holsters/?albumview=slideshow).

One of my favorites, and a very good product for the money, is the Don Hume 715-M IWB clip-type holster. The pistol rides high, which I prefer, and the holster holds its shape.

My money is on the CrossBreed holster. I ordered the mini-tuck for my CM9. I got my first CrossBreed for my Glock 19 and it is hands down the most comfortable holster I have ever used!

I just purchased the Mitch Rosen "CLIPPER" for my PM9.
I have used one for about a year on my G26 and it is very comfortable and easy to remove if you are going to the Post Office or so.

The one for the PM9 comes in a color Cuban Brown (see Rosen site above) and sells for $65.00 on the Kahr Site.
Sits low in the pants and after a few minutes, you do not even know that it is there.

Since the PM9 is so small, I also wanted a very minimal holster. I chose a High Noon Hidden Ally and an Alabama Holster The Offside. The Hidden Ally is thin leather and rides low. The Offside is kydex and lets you get a combat grip on the gun. The Hidden Ally is around $33 shipped and is a stocking item so you'll get it fast. The Offside is $67 shipped and takes around 45 days to receive. Neither are the perfect holster, but both are great. :)

I am now looking, too, at two of the less expensive, non-molded, tuckable holsters by High Noon—both with combat grip accessibility. The Centerfold (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Centerfold/centerfold.html) has a strait cant and can be worn in a wide arc of body clock positions:

http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee486/John_England/CenterfoldHolster.jpg

I don't like to do appendix carry anyway, so I am leaning toward the Split Decision (http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Split_Decision/split_decision.html) for carry at 4 or 5 o'clock:

http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee486/John_England/SplitDecisionHolster.jpg

(I reversed the pictures because I am a lefty. :D)

Both of these holsters are said to be made with thin leather so they will really disappear when worn; the only negative being they won't facilitate one-handed reholstering. But this is Concealed Carry. After the BG is dispatched, I can use two hands to put my gun away. And, I can get an OWB holster to use at the range or out in the country when I am emptying magazines.

The only thing I can think of to change on the thin High Noon holsters would be to add a sweat shield. Then, I would call them perfect.

I know. They have them on the thicker, stiffer, more expensive molded holsters, but not on the cheap ones.

If you are not going to wear it AIWB, then you might like the more expensive one. IMHO, it was just too thick and stiff for AIWB.
