"You're over-oiling those pistols again. Either quit wearing light colored shirts to the range or wipe the excess oil and grease from those guns before you shoot them! You are ruining your shirts."

Good advice on why you need to remove any excess oil and grease from the pistols before going to the range. The excess will blow right out the back of the slide. Live and learn.

Has your wife been talking to mine? I didn't know they knew each other. Scary!

May I suggest buying a shirt(s) specifically for shooting and cleaning guns.

I go to the range.....shoot my guns......take my shirt off and clean my guns with it.......throw it in the wash.......and it better be clean for my next trip.

Well by golly theres a man we know wears the pants in the family and knows his wife will never read this forum.
If mine ever read this forum I'd probably be in the obits very quickly too.

Weird, I don't think I've noticed that on my shirts. Sometimes when I shoot my shotgun I'll end up with markings on my shirt. I think it comes from the smoky Remington Express stuff I sometimes shoot.

But I do always throw whatever I wear to the range into the laundry as soon as I come home, though... lead and all.

Hi Joe,
This July 04 will be 40 years for me and when that happens (about 3 times a week) I am handed the "SHOUT"Heavy Duty and the TIDE.

I ruined one good golf shirt and then ran to Sears and bought a nice full size Craftsman apron. It covers the chest and goes down below the knees. $6.97

I am not sure I could shoot at the range wearing an apron.

I think they have a dress code.

Oh, god, I hope they don't make me wear a dress. :001_huh:

The culprits in my case seem to be the Kahrs. No problem with the 1911 or the SIGs. Something about the way the slide is made. Less lube will fix it. Less lube better fix it!
42 years with my wife. Lived through a bunch of race cars and now pistols. Cameras are cleaner.

Helpful laundry tip for you all. If you get oil or powder on your clothing, instead of Shout, spray a little Simple Green on it. It's worked great for me.
Hope this helps,
Brad

Or.....lightly lubricate, don't douse them...
