View Full Version : Uh oh with CT laser

So I just got my CT Laser for my PM9 and installed it. I messed around with it for a little bit but wanted to take it off, as I realized it wouldn't fit back in the case with it on and at the moment I didn't have another to put it in. Anyway, I wasn't paying attention and accidentally completely unscrewed the windage adjustment screw. I immediately put it back in. The laser was wildly off but I adjusted it back on target and all seems fine. However, in reading the manual, it says if the screw is completely removed, it needs to be sent in for repair
Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on whether it needs to go in for service or not??

Crimson Trace has some great discussion forums, I'm sure that this question has been asked and discussed ad infinitum over there. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the tip. I did a search there and didn't find anything so I posted a new topic. Wait to see what they say. Thanks again.

I'm surprised there's not a discussion of that over there. But glad you posted, we'll see what kind of response you get (hopefully helpful and not :7:!!)

If it seems to be zeroed on target, keep shooting it. If it isn't broke, no need to fix it. Shoot it like you stole it. If it goes out of wack, then you need to worry about sending it back. My guess is that it will be just fine if it is on zero again. You can take the halves apart and look inside to see if everything is back in order or not. When you put the laser back on, adjustment is simple...: if your sights are on, simply pick the distance you want the laser dot to be zeroed in to and match it up with the top of your front sight. It can't be any easier than that.

Yeah, the response was shoot it, if it stays on zero, it's fine. If it loses zero, send it in. Just gotta find some time to get to the range!!
Even with the halves apart, you can't see into where the adjustment screw goes (at least from what I can see). I'll report back when I have more information, but it will likely be weeks!

Well I won't ever find out if the laser is OK or not. I called CT since about the poor mount on the PM9 (as others in this forum have experienced) and they are sending me a new one.
Hopefully it fits better and I certainly won't mistakenly take out the adjustment screw again!!

Customer service isn't always great there I have to say. I had a problem with the one on my LCP, thing fit so bad it made my finger bleed... their response?
"We've hard of that happening to some people, what most do is sand it down a little. Should be fine."

Feel free to make your comments if it is another poor fit: CT Forum (http://forums.crimsontrace.com/index.php?topic=36825.0)

I got my replacement laser today. Build date is June 2011. It fits almost exactly like the last one, which is the same as all the others I have seen photos of on the web from people complaining about it. I really like the laser and love my PM9, I just wish the fit better together :(

I think I got lucky. I bought mine from my local dealer. The build date on it is July 2009. I guess it must have been sitting on the shelf a while!! Anyway, perfect fit, no gap at all.

I don't know....just looking at the CT lasers they look way to flimsy to me. Heaven forbid if you ever drop weapon from any distance, I would bet that the laser would shatter like an egg. I tried one and after seeing the construction of them would never own another; it's to bad because they would be great if built durable.

I have never heard of anyone having any problems with theirs as far as durability. I would think that the pressure switch would be the first thing to go, but again, it seems that nobody has problems with them.
As far as the exterior being plastic and flimsy, I think you would be surprised at how little damage would occur if the gun were dropped. That polymer is tougher than you would think.
