A question for long time Kahr shooters.
Do you ocassionally completely disassemble the slide to clean the striker channel and other small parts (ejector, etc.)?
Im so used to completely taking my Glocks apart every now and then to do a thorough cleaning. So far I have only cleaned the Kahr according to the owners manual.

if it floats ur boat and u feel the need to, and u know Ur way aroud glocks, then go for it. I think once you clean that striker channel and then after that use that clean out hole u won't address that area again unless problems occur. We have a good slide disassembly sticky on the kahr tech section.
I can only USE my experience on my PM9 and I can say in 32,000 rounds I have never taken my slide apart snce day one when I put in a 5# striker spring and then I only addressed that one thing and left everything else alone. same thing with my K9 which has about 5000+ rounds through it. I use that clean out hole for all my cleanings. For sure don't ake apart the lower section. It is not needed and it can be spray cleaned from above as well as oliled.
I go with the "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT" MOTTO.

In that case, I will never take it apart. How can one argue with someone who has over 32,000 rounds through one??
I did read sticky in the Kahr section and it looks easy, but I agree, if it is not neccessary, dont do it.

While probably not necessary, some of the more anal retentive shooters, (me included), do a complete cleaning occationally, especially on my carry gun. It can't hurt, just takes time and effort.

I'm somewhere in between I guess. I take a glock down all the way frequently mainly cause I got 40 of them under my care. But I try not to anymore than necessary. I think the pins and stuff become lose over time.
The Kahr isn't any more difficult and there nothing to really get lose or sloppy.
That being said I rarely take it all the way down but I will once in a while, probably no more than once a year. Don't hurt anything.
Never pass up a chance to argue with Jocko, its usually good entertainment around here. I think it's probably more like 40,000 by now anyhow.

I did this with my K40 when I first got it. It was a used pistol and needed some internal cleaning of the parts, so I included the striker channel as well. I've not felt the need to do this with any other Kahr yet.

i usually take mine completely down to detail clean and lube before shooting the first time. ive seen too many guns gunked up with packing grease to feel comfortable carrying them that way.
