Go to the Kahr web site. It should tell you all you need to know. $145

Well yeah, I found the slide... just wondering how much work gutting one and putting the parts in the new one would be.

Knocking the sights off and on would be the hardest. The rest wouldn't be difficult.

Why not get a black finish on your current slide. Send it to Birdsong for a Black T or Robar for Roguard. Probably less than a new slide and they'll gut it for ya.

Ahh, true... forgot about the sights, not a bad idea - thanks.

Also, from jocko's description, something like cerakote will likely wear better than the DLC.

Kahr used to post that you had to return your present slide for a 1:1 swapout. :(

I don't know if they do that... still. It would suck to have to give them your slide to get another AND pay $145 plus shipping!! Both ways!!

Wouldn't that be for like a warrant replacement issue. Surely if you want to buy a new slide they won't require the old one back. Don't sound right.

GunKote is my finish of choice... a little bit glossier than a true "matte" but not shiny. Easy and forgiving to apply, easy and forgiving to cure too.

Finish - about $16
Spray gun - about $15 (Harbor Frieght touch up gun)
Cheap as hell compressor - $49 (Harbor Freight pancake)
Naptha to degrease - $8
Testors paint to re-dot the sights - $3

So we got about $100 into materials and tools to get it done. Its very do-able.

There was no outright sale of a slide a few(?) months ago without trading in your slide. I guess they stripped the innards out for the new one and kept the old slide. That surely kept buying new slides to a minimum. It had nothing to do with warranty replacement. It sure didn't make sense to me, but it is a lot of trouble when you think about it... transferring all the innards to the new slide AND moving the sights.

An "à la carte" system where you could order a slide with the sights you wanted... and with the proper innards, with some savings would be nice. I like spare parts, and giving up my present slide would discourage me from getting a new one.

I guess that Kahr lets you keep your old slide now and you have to consider what you're going to do with it, as far as the inner components and sights.

I think having the slide refinished and customized with the sights of your choice, if desired, would be the best option... certainly cheaper than a new slide.
