I had posted earlier about an attempted breakin at my home that my very alert 18 yr old daughter thwarted:

I had mentioned my intention of implementing a cellular interface to allow my home alarm system to be monitored again. I had discontinued monitoring after I had my land phone line disconnected and moved to cell phones only.
Here is my report on my experience of moving to cell based monitoring:
I first bought a cellular alarm adapter for my existing GE Networx alarm - I got a NX-592E-GSM adapter from an online retailer, then I contacted Geoarm http://www.geoarm.com who is a re-seller for Alarm.com services. I could have bought the adapter from them, but I found it elsewhere for about $60 less. Visit Alarm.com for an idea of the interactive capabilities with your alarm.
I installed the adapter myself (a 3 conductor cable ran to the adapter location) and then setup an appointment to have the adapter and service activated. I had to move the cellular adapter to a couple of different locations to get a decent signal. I expected this due to marginal cell coverage here in the "hills & holler's" where I live in rural TN.
The folks at Geoarm were very helpful and knowledgeable about the systems. About 20 mins on the phone and we were up and running.
I now can monitor and control the alarm system from my PC or my Android smartphone. I get emails and text messages when the alarm changes status and I get email reminders if the system is not armed by a certain time everyday. It is monitored and will function just as it did with a land line.
Oh yeah:
Monitoring/control per month - $25.
Cellular adapter - $209
Piece of mind - priceless
Cellular adapters are available for almost any major alarm system, new systems even have them built in. You can install them yourself and cut that land line. The $25 per month for interactive alarm service is less than I would pay for basic land line service.
I have not had a land line in two years, now I have phone, internet and alarm monitoring via cellular technology. I can't get cable, tried satellite for internet and it was a royal pain (outages, FAP's, etc). BTW, I'm not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned and I don't have enough active time to establish a track record. I'm optimistic it will continue to work as advertised.
Thanks,
Dan
