I Got a new unfired p45 yesterday. The mags are very hard to seat you have to smack them with your palm empty or loaded to get them to lock.I have a cm9 and a cw45 both run well and a buddy of mine wanted my sp101 and swapped me even for the p45 I couldnt pass on that one.I havent shot it yet but Range time isnt far away.Any Ideas?

By "very hard to seat", I take it you are talking about the very last, say less than .25", of travel before the magazine latch locks them in place. Is it any easier to lock them in place with the slide locked back? If it is, I would be concerned that the top of the magazine is hitting the underside of the slide or the ejector. If they are not any easier to insert with the slide locked back, see if the base plate is coming into contact with the bottom of the frame. If that looks good, check the magazine latch for damage/burrs.
Regards,
Greg

Thanks for your help Greg .It makes no difference if the slide is back or even off the frame. The mag slides freely all the way up into the magwell but will not lock unless you smack it with your palm and yes the base plate is in contact with the bottom of the frame.I tried my cw mag in the pm w/ same results. Both pm mags lock in the cw perfect.Looks like the latch is the culprit but I dont see any burrs.

coming into contact with the bottom of the frame has to be your issue.I would think you could get some 600 grip auto paper and staple it to a board on all 4 corners and then just take the grip and run it back and forth a few hundred times. Ur only a few thousands off from it seatting easier and by doing the above you removing the materail (very little at best) almost like a plane, (evenly). or continue on doing what ur doing by giving it a hard smack when almost seated.

You're welcome.
I agree with Jocko that frame length is your problem and that sanding it some should remedy the issue. You might use your CW45 for reference.

rredneckn2. u could call kahr and explain to them what is going on and suggest that maybe it is the mgazine catch, they will send you one, to test out. If that fails then assume that ur frame length is a tad to long . Maybe best to try a new magazine catch first instead of sanding anything. Once gone, it cannot be replaced. About all kahrs polymer guns have some gap area between the magazine floor plate and the bottom of the frame. Try the catch first.. u can if ur industrious just take the catch out of ur cw45 and put it in the P45 to test out (they are the same) . If it still does it, no sense in calling kahr,

SAND IT DOWN A TAD.

takes maybe 5 minutes to take the mag catch out and gb6491 has a very nice photo tutorial on how and what to do.

After looking at the cm compared to the pm also was on the same game plan.Heres some before and after picsDont know how to work this picture like you pros left pics were before right after.Had to take quite a bit off to be good but it feels good now a tad tighter than the cw45 but its good.I was kinda leary grinding on the frame before I shot it(in case of unseen warranty issues)But shes good now. That frame is pretty tough had to use a 2inch pad on on a 1/4 die grinder a dad at a time clean and reassemble at least 10 times.Been a wrench all my life but never on a gun.You guys are a lot of HELP!I think im ready to range test it now.And in fact Im feelin a little sick might have the time tomorrow LOL Thanks again Rick

after looking at that floor plate, I also realize that maybe u could have just sanded down the top of that floor plate a tad, as it looked like it was hitting the frame on about half of the floor plate. either way u hurt nothing and it is fixed, so not just shoot it like u stole it..

u did well
