I feel that the recoil spring on the PM45 should be a few pounds heavier. So, I cobbled up a compression spring gauge from a digital fish scale.
I compared the outer recoil springs from a PM9 and PM 45. The non-scientific results are:
PM9 OEM spring = 12.5 lbs.
PM9 Wolff 20.5 lbs. set = 15 lbs.
PM 45 OEM spring = 12.5 lbs.
I have not tested the complete recoil assembly yet, need to build a fixture. The tests were with new unused springs and the springs in the pistols with about 1000 rnds. each. The results with new and used springs were essentially the same with in a couple ounces. The springs were compressed to 90%.
I may try the Wolffs spring in my PM45. Any thoughts?

considering wolffs makes no recoil springs for the PM45, where do u start with yur guess work?
I would stick with what kahr offers, as wolff's makes kahrs recoil springs and I would like top assume that wolffs had some input with kahr as to what should be used etc.
Maybe in timne wolffs will make extra power recoil springs for the Pm45 and list them as such. I really have not read of anyone saying they thoughth the factory PM45 springs were on the weak side, and your compression test with a digital fish scale is as u state non-scientific...

Where to start? Use the 15 lb spring from the Wolffs PM9 kit or order 1911 XP springs and trim to length. Not rocket science, 1911 guys custom tune all the time.

Yep! And many of us have a whole shoebox full of various Wolff springs as a result . . . not necessarily what the average Kahr pistol customer is interested in.
We wacko 1911 guys are "different". :behindsofa:
Just remember, the reason for the two-piece sliding arrangement is they cant get a strong enough spring in the space provided.

15# spring from wolffs PM9
oops, I see where u came up witht he `15# spring which is really in the wolff site shown as 20.5#. One could go blind looking for that 15# spring listing in the wolffs site:blah:
