Hey everyone!

I'm thinking about a "new and unfired" PM40 (Black PM4044) that has shown up on our local gun board at a reasonable price of $575 delivered to Tucson.

Kahr describes the finish as: Blackened Stainless
"The PM4044 matte stainless slide is blackened using an ultra hard and super thin coating. This coating has been used successfully in the knife industry to protect blades from corrosion and scratches."

I seem to recall a few people not completely happy with the durability of their black Kahrs. What is the current opinion of the faithful here, please? ;)

Thanks for your insight . . . TucsonMTB

if you have someplace local, you can add cerakote to the slide for the price difference between the models. thats what i did, ran me 100 bucks with a slide melt. i think just the cerakote was 60.

edit - read the post too fast. 575 is a decent deal, if its new. standard used price. but i've read the same things as you about the black coating wearing off. my cerakote has zero holster wear and i carry in leather.
